Amazon just told me they're honouring my £199.99 premium pre-order after my email. Compared to Game, that's a £110 saving.

Launch line- up... Meh. Nintendo franchises AND exclusive Bayonetta 2 means I must have done something right.

Emperor Smeat 09-13-2012 05:34 PM

Gamestop in the US is offering $60 for any Wii traded-in and higher if its an Xbox 360 or PS3 for a Wii U pre-order.

No real limit to how much extra storage can be added by the way of the USB ports with Nintendo joking about if you feel like having 3 TB worth of storage space, you can. Any flash storage device will work and Nintendo won't be like Sony and only requesting propriety stuff.

Europe will be getting a special bundle which includes ZombiU.
Quote:

The ZombiU Premium Pack will feature a black 32GB model of Wii U, a black Pro Controller, and a copy of Ubisoft survival horror ZombiU.

European superstore Tesco will sell the ZombiU bundle at £329, according to its official website, while GAME will sell the bundle at £349.99, according to its official Twitter. Prices are likely to vary as European retailers set their individual prices by law.

The price on Amazon seems to have finally settled at £300. The premium console comes with Nintendoland and we can probably transfer our downloaded games to it, so I'm in no mad rush to buy an actual Wii U game. I just want to know I have the console. Then I can buy NSMBU a couple of weeks later.

Damn you, Hasney.

The internet is awash with people crying over the Bayonetta 2 thing:

What are Platinum thinking? Nintendo were the only ones who wanted to publish it in the end. That's what they're thinking. Sega's logo is on the game, but that's purely because they still have the deal in place. Sega didn't want to take the financial risk publishing it so Nintendo decided they'll take it and make it for WiiU. It was Nintendo or nothing from what I've seen.

That and the other Platinum Games one are the 2 I'm most hyped for.

Drakul 09-14-2012 04:48 AM

The exclusivity and the game being published by Nintendo has people saying it confirms Bayonetta for the next Smash Bros.

I doubt it, considering Smash Bros doesn't allow characters to shoot guns (which is why everyone has laser guns and Snake only shoots rockets, not bullets) and I think shooting guns is all Bayonetta does.

I never played the game.

Kalyx triaD 09-14-2012 05:30 AM

Silly gamers. There wouldn't be Bayo2 without Nintendo taking the reigns. Idiots. It was this or nothing.

Drakul 09-14-2012 06:57 AM

I'm thinking we might see GTA V on the Wii U. R* have been saying we'd get "more info" soon after the screenshots and they previously never gave a list of which platforms the game would release for and when.

Now the Wii U has a date, maybe we'll get a trailer soon that include a release date and the Wii U as one of the platforms?

#BROKEN Hasney 09-14-2012 07:35 AM

I can see the Wii U having good 3rd party support for now. How good it will be after the next MS and Sony consoles come out will depend on how well it sells.

Even then, the 3rd parties could still get the Wii-itus again and just push out "Here's a half-arsed version of a game you could be playing on a more advanced console.... BUT WAIT, A WILD GIMMICKY USE OF THE CONTROLLER APPEARS"

That's not true, although the game is always marketed as a shooter it's actually a brawler. I don't think she'll be in it, though, as she's in Anarchy Rules.

As a fan of Bayonetta, I was always under the impression that a sequel wasn't going to be made and I'm not upset about it much at all. Chasing sequels isn't healthy and it's no wonder all these chaps are so unsatisfied with life.

#BROKEN Hasney 09-14-2012 07:57 AM

Yeah, if you ever played Devil May Cry, Bayonetta is a very similar vein. Give it a shot if you see it cheap Drakul, it is a fantastic game.

If Nintendo want to save any other franchises from Sega's mis-management, I could do with a new non-handheld Valkyria Chronicles in the west.

OssMan 09-14-2012 10:31 AM

I don't want to play any of the games so far

The Rogerer 09-14-2012 10:59 AM

I really liked Valkyria Chronicles in concept, but I started to get sick of it towards the end with the amount of times they would screwjob you in the middle of a mission. I got to Chapter 16 and stalled.

#BROKEN Hasney 09-14-2012 11:33 AM

Finished the first and loved it, like the second one too but had to abort halfway through when my PSP nub decided to keep dragging to the left, wasting my movement points.

Shame Nintendo can't just buy Sega. Could see them doing right by a few of their franchises. The only game series I consistently like from Sega these days is Yakuza.

On September 13, 2012 Bayonetta 2 was announced as an exclusive title under development for the Wii U during the Nintendo Direction presentation held on the same day.

As game developers, we are incredibly excited to be able to announce a new title to all of our fans; however, we are aware that the announcement may have come as a shock to many of you.

As with Bayonetta, Bayonetta 2 is under development and production here at PlatinumGames, and is a true sequel to the acclaimed first game in the series. Bayonetta is one of our most beloved titles, and it played a large part in establishing PlatinumGames as an emerging game studio in the minds of users worldwide. Bayonetta has fans the world over, and we would never dream of alienating them from participating in the future of PlatinumGames.

That being said, the console games market is in a state of upheaval, so establishing a new game franchise requires a considerable amount of will, determination, and love. Bayonetta is a brand that we want to see become stronger, reaching the hands of more and more gamers, so we have continued to consult with SEGA, the previous game’s publisher, on how we can make sure this takes place. Our answer was a new partnership with Nintendo.

Along with their new hardware, Nintendo, as a company, is dedicated to establishing a new future for the games industry, as you can tell by their record of passionate support for gaming. Alongside Nintendo, we hope to grow the Bayonetta brand beyond where it stands today, allowing even more gamers around the world to experience the action of our beloved witch. As developers, we are working hard to make this a reality.

We hope that you will look forward to what we have in store.
Sega didn't want it, Nintendo did. Fair play to everyone involved. Love that it's happening at all, I don't care what it's on.

Emperor Smeat 09-14-2012 05:25 PM

Nintendo hints it probably won't be until after March 2013 that the patch or support for multiple touchpads will be done for games.

Kalyx triaD 09-14-2012 06:21 PM

Perhaps the best visuals in a Mario game, though Galaxy looked really good.

Drakul 09-15-2012 02:13 AM

I'm wondering what the Wii U equivilent to Galaxy will be.

Kalyx triaD 09-15-2012 02:59 AM

I'm sure Mario will have a 'main series' adventure sometime, every Nintendo console housed one (sometimes two).

Drakul 09-15-2012 03:38 AM

We had Land, then World and then Galaxy. Super Mario Universe?

Kalyx triaD 09-15-2012 03:38 AM

Good call.

#BROKEN Hasney 09-15-2012 03:48 AM

According to Nintendo's site, here are the games listed as being available on launch day. Not the window, the actual day.
  • Rayman Legends
  • Black Ops 2
  • Assassin’s Creed III
  • ZombiU
  • Mass Effect 3: Special Edition
  • Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition
  • TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2
  • Scribblenauts Unlimited
  • Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two
  • Rabbids Land
  • Just Dance 4
  • Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth
  • Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed
  • MADDEN NFL 13
  • NBA 2K13
  • TRANSFORMERS PRIME
  • Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2013
  • Game Party Champions
  • ESPN Sports Connection
  • Darksiders II
  • Nintendo Land
  • New Super Mario Bros. U

That's pretty damn solid. I'm down for Scribblenauts. Then I've just got to pick between Rayman, Mario & ZombiU

Drakul 09-15-2012 03:52 AM

I'm only getting Nintendoland with my premium console and I'm going to get NSMBU the same day.
Rayman looks cool with the whole dynamic music thing but it can wait. ZombiU looks cool but I'd probably not want to actually play it. Sonic Racing will probably be a 360 game for me, as will any future fitness games.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they put on the eShop.

We still can't play Mario online, can we?

#BROKEN Hasney 09-15-2012 03:57 AM

No. I'm kind of glad that you can't. It's bad enough playing with people in the same room who you know personally. Can you imagine the level of rage from some individuals online at playing that game when they don't know you? Griefing abound.

#BROKEN Hasney 09-15-2012 03:58 AM

I'd probably watch "Let's Play New Super Mario Bros U Online with your host Fallen Angel" until he dies of a rage-related heart attack though.

#BROKEN Hasney 09-15-2012 03:58 AM

Also assuming the camera never faced him.

Drakul 09-15-2012 06:37 AM

It would have been useful for playing with friends and family. I have a young nephew in England and he's really into the Mario Bros, always wanting to play multiplayer with me when he comes to visit. It would have been cool if I could have played online with him and my sister or something.

It would have been a laugh playing online with the right friends but it would have been insanely frustrating with strangers.

I also wonder if they'd ever have custom levels in an actual Mario game.

No. I think the official reason still from Nintendo is due to them not wanting to deal with lag issues since Mario platforming is precession based and not wanting to bother reworking the traditional death setup to work online.

OssMan 09-15-2012 07:48 PM

I still haven't finished New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Every time I play it my fucking girlfriend blames me for everything going wrong even though it is her fault 95% of the time. Stupid

I preordered the basic version at Best Buy online & preordered Mario Bros. U before they sold out.

New screens and a few details were revealed for Monster Hunter 3 on the Wii U. At least 200 more quests and touchpad controls are some of the new stuff being added in comparison to what was done with Tri which is the basis for the Wii U version.

Nintendo outlines some of their long term plans with the Wii U itself not getting any price cuts for at least 3 years or 2015 if it follows the same path as the Wii. The tablet might between that time considering its being rumored to cost around $100 to $150 if it were to be sold separately right now (its not until mid 2013).

Also just like every other Nintendo console, the Wii U will be region locked.

Reggie Fis-Aime said, yesterday, there were more games in the launch window (launch until March 2013) that hadn't been announced yet. Then this popped up today:

Among the known and incoming games like Tank!Tank!Tank! and New Super Mario Bros. U, there are listings for games that are not only unannounced, but are surely the work of naught but daydreams and broken wishbones.

Like Fire Emblem Wii U. Doom 4, a game that is yet to be officially shown off in any capacity. A Wii U version of Endless Ocean. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Wii U. Kingdom Hearts Wii U. Nintendogs Wii U. There's even a listing for a game that would be perfect for the system, a Wii U edition of surgery simulator Trauma Centre.

Sure, there's a remote chance that some of these are real, if only through the power of coincidence, but for most, come on.

Before you laugh, don't! This kind of thing is great. Shows somebody at head office is either conveniently incompetent or, as seems more likely, is quietly, and on the company dollar, dreaming out loud.

Though the lack of Wind Waker HD shows they're not dreaming hard enough.

Leak or wishful thinking?

Kalyx triaD 09-26-2012 02:48 PM

Nintendo itself wishes it had a lineup like that.
