Went back to watching that RR stream. At 07 now. Watching this just shows how many one hit wonders there were. It's sad really.
|
Kenny Dykstra for example. Shined in the Spirit Squad (for what it was). As soon as he goes solo, useless
|
I love how the picture of Ric Flair in the VIP Axxess presale email I got is like 20 years old at least, but the pic of Bret Hart and all the others is recent.

I think it was 03. But Taker didn't win. That was Brock's
|
I'm pissed. I go to that stream and it is the 2008 Royal Rumble where John Cena fucked everything up.
I ordered that PPV and I loved it until he came out. I literally yelled "SON OF A BITCH!!!" when he came out because I knew exactly what it meant. |
I think that was the only time I marked for Cena but it wasn't real. It was like everyone else around me was having a holy shit moment and I kinda got the contact high from it.
In actuality, I was thinking how fucking stupid it was for him to come back as early as he did, just so he could get the sympathy Mania |
I don't give a fuck. That should have been Triple H's Royal Rumble. Instead, that son of a bitch ruined it. Then, he gets his match at No Way Out anyway and still headlines WrestleMania.
Cena is more tolerable than he's been in years, but the core of the character and his marketing is completely hateable still. |
Overcoming the odds, being the ultimate role model and hero, etc. is wonderful but when there is absolutely no change and he "overcomes" some of the most insane odds ever - it gets tired and very easy to resent for anyone over the age of 10.
Cena overcoming Brock Lesnar's vicious assault at Extreme Rules is an awesome example of the power of Cena. 2008 was example of overkill and making most fans just roll their eyes. The guy comes back from a "torn pectoral muscle" in a fucking month, gets #30 in the Rumble, wins said Rumble, decides to get his title shot at No Way Out instead, loses at No Way Out, but ends up in the Mania main event anyway. Then they wonder why so many people boo the guy. |
Still waiting on the John Cena/Yankees shirt to inevitably come out

I pray there is video of this. It has to be pure hilarity. |
It is from some sort of webshow that Jericho is in the process of making called "But I'm Chris Jericho"

Well, not really.
|
that seems to be the standard formula to hype a match. no way you can tell what the outcome will be from that
|
Well typically the age-old formula is last laugh=failure. Fuck that nonsense.
But a month long laugh with no direct consequence? Kind of unusual in this type of situation |
He got raped by the Shield.
|
Doesn't have anything to do with Punk.
Allegedly. |
There was a link in here that analysed a year of wrestling and on slightly over 50% of cases, the guy who had the upper hand in the feud on free-TV actually won.
Still think Punk will win though. Even if it's by outside interference and Heyman manages some legal shenanigans to stop Punk from being stripped. Then Rock wins it at Elimination Chamber anyway. |
I think they are finally going to reveal the whole Shield/Punk/Maddox/Heyman/Lesnar connection thing at the Royal Rumble. Once CM Punk beats The Rock, there is nobody left for him to beat on his reign as the single greatest entity in WWE --- *GONG*
|
But we have seen that on Rock. It's 2-1, really. Not enough to assume an outcome.
|
Course, there's still some glass that needs to shatter...
