JDS or Overeem?

I feel like JDS is a more favorable match up for Alistair than Brock was. Dos Santos prefers to stand and bang which is something Overeem does better than almost any other heavyweight. Plus, JDS is predominantly a boxer while Overeem has knees and kicks.

JDS also holds KOs over guys who are primarily jiu jitsu fighters or have no chin (Struve) while he didn't put away stronger fighters like Big Country and Carwin, although he did batter them. I think the Velasquez fight would have played out differently if Cain didn't have the knee injury but that's just me.

Also, I don't think JDS's take downs are to be feared like Brock's and I don't think he's as dangerous on the ground as Werdum is.

Could be a good win for him. Plus, Overeem as HW champion would be huge for the sport. He's a larger then life character, who's likable and can be marketed heavily in North America and Europe.

Overeem will win.

Kris P Lettus 01-04-2012 08:40 PM

Either have a strikers chance to destroy the other..

Pintint 01-04-2012 10:08 PM

JDS imo, but I'm no MMA expert.

MoFo 01-04-2012 10:21 PM

Dont like JDS, thought he looked like shit against Roy Nelson

Reem KO1 IMO

Stickman 01-04-2012 10:49 PM

Overeem

The Mask 01-04-2012 11:42 PM

really hard to look past overeem for this one. at the same time i reckon cain could beat reem and then you're going round in circles i suppose.

The Mask 01-04-2012 11:43 PM

that said, i suppose JDS is in the same camp as anderson silva so if you ever needed a sparring partner to train for a muay thai fighter you couldn't really ask for anyone better.

JDS better standup I think..I think he'll stay champ for awhile

Kris P Lettus 01-05-2012 01:01 AM

Dos Santos has better boxing but Overeems kick boxing is world class, man..

Heyman 01-05-2012 04:32 AM

My prediction is JDS.

However - I think it's also safe to say that Spilchuk would get his ass kicked by either of those guys if he attempted to fight them, lol.

Iop 01-05-2012 10:09 AM

JDS, but my past prediction was a DISASTER (DIS-ASS-STER)

Well I would hope so! I'm washed up.

El Capitano Gatisto 01-05-2012 11:14 AM

Spilchuk would kill them both.

Vastardikai 01-05-2012 03:16 PM

I'm going with Overeem for one major reason:

JDS doesn't seem to want to check leg kicks. Overeem can punish the guys legs then move in and Uberknee him into next month.

More than that, Overeem is sexy and he knows it.

Jamstar 01-05-2012 09:50 PM

definitely JDS. Overeem doesn't possess the finesse, he's too big. JDS will pepper his face with big shots until he crumples to his demise.

Jura 01-05-2012 10:09 PM

JDS seems like the better boxer so I think his best bet is to stand-up and try to get a KO but don't get too close. If Overeem has him close he can toss him and throw him down or land those dangerous knees. If it goes to the ground, Overeem can either ground and pound or do his patented guillotine.

Krimzon7 01-06-2012 04:11 AM

Overeem by knees to the face

Pete Cash 01-07-2012 11:06 PM

Depends who can dictate the distance. Both of them have ludicrous power. One is lumbering and scary powerful and strong, the other is lightening fast. Good fight. JDS doesn't want to get stuck in the clinch and Alistair doesn't want to allow JDS to just keep smashing him from outside.

Also if Overeem plonks forward like he can JDS will uppercut his face off.

Ol Dirty Dastard 01-10-2012 11:15 PM

It's a pick'm. Depends which Overeem shows up. Up until this point, Dos Santos always shows up.
