WWE:NXT Discussion Thread

This is huge for NXT! A university and its hopefully enthusiastic crowd may be just what it needed to establish itself as a 3rd brand. Triple H's support is not something to laugh at either. What are your thoughts? |
Considering its been the best hour of wrestling on TV (again, since most of Season 1 was), this could be quite awesome.
awesome!
I'm really, really intrigued.
WWE NXT, the best show in Orlando Florida!
I don't watch NXT, mostly because it's on a channel I don't get but this news, like Noid, makes me very intrigued. I'll be checking it out. :y:
I honestly think that only good things can come from this. |
Damn, always wanted to go to Full Sail.

Haven't watched any of these guys since their original NXT runs... and they were all pretty awful. I'll check out a recent episode to see how much they have grown.

Ya just saw that. I am hoping they introduce a new roster as well, or at least new roster members. Can't wait to see this in action.
Is it still a reality competition or just a regular show now? I haven't payed any attention since season 2.
Regular show but a very decent one.
Glad that the commentary team seems like it's going to be Jim Ross and William Regal. Although he is new, Regal is already a pretty great commentator that will blend/clash well with JR. I see them quickly becoming my favourite duo in the entire WWE.
Regal is kindof goofy with his announcing. Hopefully they can get back on track and give NXT some respect announce wise.
Shitting on the show constantly got pretty old fast. |
As a graduate from Full Sail University, I have to say that this is an amazing move for both parties. I would give anything to go back and be in school while WWE NXT was being produced on campus - probably would've tried to nudge my way onto the production team somehow.
Is Full Sail known for being a party campus?
I'd like to remind you all that Vince complained when WCW went to places like Fort Lauderdale and other party college campuses during the Monday Night Wars. |
Should be interesting to see what visual changes get done to NXT and eventually the rest of the WWE's shows since Full Sail's equipment is used a lot in Hollywood and with ESPN.

The new NXT needs a lot of Kassius Ohno.

Really looking forward to this. Also, vote Iop for new mod.

Aight I'm back on board with NXT, haven't see any of it since a few eps of season 4.
This week's episode will still be taped tonight (already done I think). I guess they will announce something at the tapings tonight about the move.
A friend of mine got a spot on the camera team. BASTARD.
SPOILER: show |
Oh wow they are going full swing here :y:
SPOILER: show |
Holy fuck, I cannot wait. Best commentary team and GM in the business and a bunch of people I've never heard of as well as some good main events.
I'm assuming those spoilers are just the matches or the backstage stuff wasnt shown to the crowd though, otherwise the GM role is a little pointless. |
I wasn't sure if this was actually gonna be televised or shown on WWE.com or whatever, but the fact that they turned Bo Rotundo into Bo Dallas pretty much confirms that it is. Can't use their real name, after all.
Also interesting that they withheld Dean Ambrose. Guessing they're still being saved for one of the main shows. |
Bray Wyatt wrestled on the 4th show.
Also, they're going to run into the ROH problem. Mainly that taping so many shows at once is going to burn out the crowd. |
They might get away with it. Drunk college people and all, but we probably won't know for sure for 4 weeks.
Actually pumped for it. |
Quote:
Anyway I think they might pipe in some reactions by week 4 if need be. |
Where is Johnny Curtis? :'(
I'm on the fence. I like the thought of seeing all the new talent but I don't like the huge sudden shake-up like Regal getting replaced as GM and a lot of the "established" for lack of a better term, NXT guys and divas not being on any of these.
Also, I have the feeling they're gonna drop some things with no explanation? Like the Percy Watson attack angle and Hawkins and Ryder's feud with Regal and Striker. |
Since the NXT regulars outside of Kidd & McGillycutter are nowhere to be seen I would assume that it's more or less going to be an upscaled FCW TV. The old format, angles, etc are all likely to be scrapped. Kind of loved all the silly angles and character development on NXT. It gave all these jobbers more depth and personality than 2/3rds of the main roster.

Also, yay Richie Steamboat on TV! |
Are they just filming months of stuff in Florida in one day just as a rib on TNA?
More detailed
SPOILER: show |
With this many matches, does it mean that they are going to make NXT run longer?
I reckon they'll pick and choose some matches. Gotta make room for that Raw Rebound after all and I'm assuming there will be some backstage stuff filmed separate, or the GM role is kinda pointless.
At least for markets where it's actually on TV anyway as the 1 hour will be unable to be extended there. They might do an NXT Uncut on wwe.com or something though. |
I could see them doing that. I just hope Steamboat gets tv time.
Sounds like FCW, just televised to a larger audience. I'm actually somewhat glad about that, and will give NXT a chance to get into a groove. I'm really curious to see how this all turns out.

I am watching Smackdown right now and it is way more compelling than that POS Raw we got on Monday.

So uhhhh....according to the front page, this is only going to be airing internationally. :-\ No plans set in stone yet to air it in the US. And JR says that if it does air here, it probably won't be online. Here's to hoping it ends up on YouTube.
My personal hope is that they just continue on with the current NXT on WWE.com for now...really would find it hard to believe that they wouldn't at least mention that the show was going away. Then once they secure a TV deal for the new NXT they can transition. |

I'm a huge fan for Sofia Cortez. I'm really glad they picked her up. I wish they would sign Martin Caucus or whatever his name was, though.

Reminder that the new set of tapings is going on right now as we speak. Results in here soon.

Not sure if it's accurate as it was on Wikipedia and can't find it on wwe.com
WWE.com revealed on Wednesday, June 13 that the new version of NXT will be made available online via WWE.com and YouTube beginning on Wednesday, June 20 when WWE will begin airing the episodes they taped at Full Sail University on May 17. |
I'm guessing they only used Johnny Curtis once because he's going to be busy working every Raw and Smackdown until Money In The Bank.
Seems more like the current NXT than the first set of tapings. It'll be interesting to see how they put them together. Michael McGillicutty seems to begin a feud with Tyson Kidd at the start of the tapings, but it seems dropped by the end of the show, for example. There was a Michael McGillicutty vs. Tyson Kidd match taped at the first set, though. Maybe that will be thrown in there somewhere?
This is important, because it means that there have been two Johnny Curtis matches taped for NXT now. |
Ok ok here you are. Ignore the german intro.

Just no one report these videos, that's all. |
Saw the whole show. My 2 Paise:
- Stage Design: I miss the yellow ropes. But the venue & stage design is perfect. Intimate, house-show feel. I don't miss the jib / moving wide camera though. The ramp & the entrance-tron are great to have. - The New Theme Song: Its by Coheed & Cambria, right? Gets irritating to listen to as the episode goes by. - Promo 1 / Match 1: Bo Rotundo: The only thing i got out of the promo, the match and the post-match interview was that Bo's got a great Colgate smile. The spear came out of nowhere, and didn't look as if it had much impact. Weak finishing move. - Promos: Seth Rollins: Good intensity, although Rollins doesn't exude charisma like the young Punk did. Am i excited to watch him judging by the promo? No. As Gertner would say, he came across as another 'vanilla midget', who 'will be the future'. - Promos: Bray Wyatt: Excellent gimmick. He finally seems to be owning the gimmick, and the promo put him, the personality, and his ferocity over. Intrigued, to say the least. - Promos & Match 2: The Ascension: Wow! Connor O Brien finally looks intimidating! The dark, ominous entrance, followed by their angry screaming, and the fact that CJ Parker didn't even get to tag in his partner were all neat touches. The team has piqued my interest. - Promo & Match 3: Damien Sandow: Damien Sandow, thank you. His reply: "You're Welcome!"; Enjoyed this. - Backstage Vignette: Bateman & Curtis have fabulous chemistry. And that showed. Its good that the WWE allowed them to talk, and didn't forget their feud / frenemy-state. - Match 4: Tyson Kidd VS Micheal McGillicutty: I didn't think this was their best match to date, but it was a good clinic nonetheless. Kidd's reverse moonsault was the OMG! moment that now accompanies almost every Kidd match. The finish sequence was a little weak, though i loved Kidd kicking McGillicutty's face before snapping on the Dungeon lock . Overall: Strong debut episode. Very interested in how they introduce all the wrestlers. I'd give it a 7/10 |

Bo Rotundo looks like a gay elf
with beautifully maintained eyebrows
and according to JR he's single :naughty:
His finisher is a really shitty looking spear?
who's this fucking cock doing the interview?
These Ascension dudes are pretty badass. Especially the British one.
Connor O'Brien appeared to orgasm at the end of that promo though.
Wait what the fuck The Ascension came out to the ring without me even noticing them.
lol Regal. "If I were an opponent I'd have buggered off by now."
fucking love Regal on commentary
almost as much as I love Bray Wyatt, way better than his gay elf brother
fucking dominates that character
this show does a good job of building dudes up
lol Johnny Curtis, actually pretty awesome
Bray Wyatt is my new favorite though
George Hackenschmidt would be disgusted by Bateman and Curtis
Regal should be announcing Raw and Smackdown
"That Johnny Curtis is a filthy swine, if I were Derrick Bateman I'd rip his throat out." |
watching that Bray Wyatt promo again awesomeeeeeeeeeeeee
I am a total Braytard right now
I kindof know that they have to have WWE superstars, but I hope they give the rookies more time to have than just quick squash matches from now on.
Tyson Kidd and Michael McGuillacutty are too good to be on NXT well Tyson Kidd is. Not sure why they would give Connor O'Brien a cool gimmick and then keep his name as Connor O'Brien. Seems to off-set everything. Great promos by Seth Rollis and Bray Wyatt. Bo Dallas kinda looks like Juvy without the mask. Hope he can get a better finish that that weak ass hug-spear. Can't wait for next weeks episode with Claudio and Rollins. |
When this starts airing in the US, I wonder if it'll start from the beginning. Wouldn't surprise me - since the rule of thumb seems to be that if it doesn't air in the US, it doesn't really count. Hence why there's no mention of the new NXT anywhere on WWE.com

The WWE clearly wants Bo Dallas to be the star of this thing, and the dude is young and has that "Superstar" vibe. His Spear did not look the most vicious this week, though. I suspect that Bo will get over with the crowd, though (he already sort of is), and that he'll be promoted to either the RAW or SmackDown! roster pretty quickly. Either that or they'll create an NXT Championship for him.
I loved the Seth Rollins video, actually. I've heard fantastic things about Rollins in the ring, but not so many great things about his promo skills and personality. This video really hid that well. He talked clearly and confidently (granted, this was an edited video), and he seemed like a star. I could see this guy being the first major break-out star of the new NXT experiment, even though there are probably a few guys who would prefer that to go to Bo Dallas or Richie Steamboat first. Bray Wyatt's character is amazing, and what I really love about this new NXT is the different vibe to production. I still want to see Wyatt on the main rosters, though, but I guess this will be a great little test run for the character. Tyson Kidd and Michael McGillicutty got to work the main event to get the new era of NXT off with a bang, and it was a pretty nice little bout. These two could have a great match with each other in their sleep. It did at times feel like they were wrestling the same match as they did on NXT the other week (that really awesome one), but they did work some great stuff in there. I wish they would give a kayfabe reason for these two being involved in the new season of NXT, however. It could be that Dusty Rhodes has known these guys for years, since they grew up in the industry, and that he wanted them to work for him. Kidd could have said yes because he will take any chance he can to wrestle, while McGillicutty said yes under the advice of William Regal, who could be mentoring McGillicutty behind the scenes and telling him to get that practice in NXT so that he can go on to RAW and SmackDown! and dominate. |
Saw this on TV yesterday and it was awesome, I can't wait for next weeks.
Bo Dallas is one of the ugliest human beings on the planet.
Yeah, I find it weird that the WWE seems to be giving him the gimmick of a good looking guy. Not to poke fun at the dude or anything -- but it just seems so forced.
His eyebrows infuriate me, and that dude was really Dolph Ziggler's brother? Maybe he's fantastic at wrestling too.
seriously how awesome is that British guy from The Ascension?
not Bray Wyatt awesome, but pretty awesome |
I have to agree, he is awesome.
Check out other Ascension matches in my thread, Kenneth Cameron has a fantastic look to himself. Love his intro part where he shines that light on himself.
