I have heard a few people say the Blazers next year will make it as far as the West Finals (never know the Jazz made the West Finals in 07 after having a few down yrs) I dont think they will yet. I do think however they are a playoff team but will bow out in a close series 1st rd or will get swept in beat in 5 in the Conf Semis

Brand and Maggette opt out

Quote:

Clippers forward Elton Brand joined teammate Corey Maggette today in opting out of the final season of his contract and will become an unrestricted free agent.

Brand, who sat out all but eight games last season while recovering from a ruptured Achilles' tendon, immediately becomes one of the most attractive big men in the market.

He was owed $16.4 million had he stayed in the final year of his Clippers contract.

Maggette, the longest-tenured Clipper, also is one of the most attractive free agents in this off-season's market.
Baron Davis opts out

Quote:

Golden State point guard Baron Davis elected to become a free agent Monday night, opting out of the final year of his contract with the Warriors in a surprise move.
Artest does NOT opt out

Quote:

On the last night of the NBA Finals, Ron Artest said he was "99 percent sure" he wouldn't opt out of his contract with the Sacramento Kings. Make it 100.

"Not opting out," Artest told ESPN.com's Marc Stein via e-mail Monday night. "The Kings have been there for me, so the best I could do is stay in my contract."

Artest's agent, Mark Stevens, confirmed that his client will fulfill the final year, worth nearly $8 million.

Artest played in only 57 games due to injury last season and averaged 20.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-01-2008 12:45 AM

Wow, Davis just turned down almost 17 million by opting out. Has plenty of money obviously but still, that's A LOT to turn down. Guess he really wants that long term deal.

Ninti the Mad 07-01-2008 12:49 AM

Too bad SA cant afford him.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-01-2008 12:55 AM

They don't really need him though. I think he could potentially go to the Clippers, I heard that Elton Brand only opted out so he could resign for less and help the organization...that leaves more money for Davis (plus Corey Maggette just opted out as well, so I think the Clippers would have some money freed up)

I have no idea that Brand thing is true though, if not, imagine Brand going to a team like the Suns?

Antawn Jamison and Wizards agree to new deal

Quote:

Antawn Jamison said all along he was happy in the nation’s capital and it appears that hasn’t changed.

The Washington Wizards wasted little time assuring the return of Jamison -- reportedly agreeing to a new four-year deal with the All-Star forward.

Gertner 07-01-2008 09:55 AM

Gonna be a boring Off season for Utah.

RP 07-01-2008 04:18 PM

I think Kyle Korver is gunna man up and rape a girl this season. I think he has it in him. It'd be some good ole fashion street cred. He'd be the toughest white guy in Utah. Especially if it ends up being Matt Harprings wife.

McLegend 07-01-2008 10:23 PM

Baron Davis all ready signed with the Clippers.

McLegend 07-01-2008 10:24 PM

Probably will end up re-signing Elton Brand too.

mrslackalack 07-01-2008 10:41 PM

Baron Davis signs with Clippers

Crimson 07-01-2008 11:14 PM

Yea they def need to re sign Brand. That'll be a sick duo if healthy.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-02-2008 02:53 AM

Heard the Celtics are offering the mid-level exception to Corey Maggette, I dunno, we'll see. Probably would mean Posey is out though? I dunno about all that...

SammyG 07-02-2008 03:28 AM

Lake Show pushing for Posey.

ClockShot 07-02-2008 08:48 PM

Supersonics are gonna pay up to $75 million to get out of Seattle.

Juan 07-03-2008 01:10 AM

Poor Seattle bastards are left with the Mariners.

SammyG 07-03-2008 02:36 AM

...and the Seahawks.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-03-2008 02:53 AM

So stupid the Sonics are moving. Oklahoma City? Come on

Juan 07-03-2008 02:55 AM

Oh yeah.

RP 07-03-2008 07:37 AM

I would trade the Pacers for the Mariners right now.

RP 07-03-2008 07:43 AM

Brandon Rush does remind me of Pierce. I think he has that kind of game and could possibly turn into that type of player, the problem is, we have like 4 SF's. Wheres Rush gunna fit in? Play him at 2guard behind Dunleavy? Dunleavy will get atleast 80% of the minutes. You'd think something was in the works. If you draft Rush, you're telling me that you'll be trading Dunleavy or Granger. Because why else would you draft Rush? You dont draft a back up over a potential superstar PG/SG who would start right away. I like Rush. He might be the best perimeter defender in the draft. His defense is fantastic and he supposedly showed a ton of Offensive skill in the draft camps that no one knew he had because he was mostly being a " team player " at Kansas. I hope thats true. The guy was a top 5 pick a year ago before he tore his knee up. I like Rush alot, but why draft him if he aint got a shot at starting? Why over Bayless?

Crimson 07-03-2008 08:50 AM

Hmm not sure if I should still root for the Sonics..I don't wana be a fan of a hick team in Oklahoma. Kinda hard to just switch tho, so I dunno :/

SammyG 07-03-2008 08:59 AM

RP, You can ask "Why" about every aspect of the Pacers franchise. Larry Bird is terrible, and I feel sorry for all Pacer fans.

Eh, it wouldn't be a hick team just the state. Regardless of where they are, if you like the team then you should cheer for them unless you have something against the place.

I think I've seen what the jerseys could look like. They may have been made by some fans but if its legit the jerseys look really nice. The main colors are black and gold and white. Gold being the accent color.

There's a possibility that other NBA teams could move to other cities in the future too. If the Hornet's average attendance is below a certain number next year then they can opt out on their lease or whatever and leave town. Sacramento could move too especially since the Maloofs spend most of their time in Las Vegas. I've always wondered why LV didn't have a professional team and like the idea. I also like the idea of a team in OK so there could be more teams in the midwest but I'd rather have a team in Kansas City instead of OK. I thought driving through Kansas was boring but Oklahoma is pretty awful compared to it. At least near KC there's lots of cities and populated areas where people can come from to support the team instead of farm land galore in Oklahoma.

McLegend 07-08-2008 11:37 PM

Elton Brand bitches

SammyG 07-08-2008 11:54 PM

Good, getting him outta the Western Conference. Davis and Brand would be way too much to handle.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-09-2008 12:13 AM

Is that Brand thing gonna happen? I haven't seen it anywhere but on message boards

Also just read on Sportsline that Maggette is going to the Warriors, wonder if that means Posey will be back in Boston?

SammyG 07-09-2008 12:15 AM

Warriors desperately need a point guard now, good thing is they got cap space.

McLegend 07-09-2008 12:15 AM

O it's gonna happen

SammyG 07-09-2008 03:41 PM

Warriors offer Ronny 17 mil over 4 years. I personally hope we don't match that offer sheet, let him walk, he's not THAT good... Also that frees up more money for us to try to get Artest. We already have offered L.O. For Ron.

RP 07-09-2008 03:43 PM

I wonder if the Pacers can find a way to trade Tinsley to the Warriors for a small contingent of there average fags.

Crimson 07-09-2008 10:47 PM

Damn , a Brand/Davis combo woulda been sweet. Poor Clippers

SammyG 07-10-2008 12:13 AM

Poor Clips? Livingston is coming back, isn't he? Kaman is a good underrated center, and they got B-Diddy now...

What sucks is that they lost Maggette.

IC Champion 07-10-2008 04:45 PM

And that the Warriors signed Maggette. Poor Clippers.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-11-2008 02:16 AM

Nah Livingston is a free agent. So from last years team they lost Maggette and added Baron Davis (since Brand only played 8 games) probably going to finish with around the same record.

RP 07-11-2008 07:09 AM

I read the Clips might make a run at Okafer

he's no Brand, but he's pretty good.

RP 07-11-2008 07:12 AM

Is it just me or does the East look like it might be the best conference. Not only all the superstars on the East side, but alot of teams drafted bright futures.. I guess Indiana might be one. Beasly and Rose both in the East. Lebron, Arenas, KG, Pierce, Bosh, Travis Diener, Wade, Howard.

SammyG 07-11-2008 02:56 PM

Kobe
Dirk
Duncan
Nash
Bynum
Chris Paul
T-mac
etc etc

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-11-2008 03:00 PM

lol Travis Diener

The West top to bottom is the better conference but I would take the top teams from the East over any team from the West (basing it off last season anyway) Western Conference teams don't play D like the Celtics or Pistons do.
