I also love condescending Emma

They could just not use that taping, they've done it before
|
Need to update the thread title..
"..and Ohio!" They taped the show in Columbus and it's going up at some point SPOILER: show |
They're doing with NXT what they should have done with the rebooted ECW. It would have been much better if they did separate tapings in smaller venues.

NXT House Show for some strange reason decided to include a random Big Show vs Ryback match.
According to reports this is what got chanted during said match: Quote:

Some random things and thoughts about the Columbus NXT show. Does not include every match... May contain spoilers if you intend on going to the Cleveland show...
SPOILER: show |
That show sounds amazing. I feel like if it were up to Triple H, Cesaro would be used so much better than he is now. He seemed to understand Cesaro's importance to NXT, and he put him over Neville, who has been one of the most strongly booked talents in the world, even though Cesaro is a heel.
I find it odd that Riley was basically squashed by the sounds of things. It seems like they are trying to make a deal out of him on NXT television. |
Apparently the Neville vs. Cesaro match is being taped for an NXT DVD release. NXT seems legitimately more successful than TNA and ROH at this point.
|
I'm hoping they bring Samoa Joe in (with his name intact) to finally be the guy to dethrone Owens somewhere down the line.

Riley's promo this week was really good. I couldn't stand him at the desk most of the time, but it's cool to see a dude keep fighting to get to do what he loves to do, and he seemed legitimately overwhelmed afterwards. Good for him.

It's fun to see Alexa Bliss improve every time she is out there
|
Did she get new music this week?
Her theme sounded different and it was a while since her last appearance but don't remember if it was changed earlier. |

Found myself really annoyed that they spoiled the Riley/Parker match and post-match promo with Owens by showing it the promo package for the Ohio show. Riley winning was a shoo-in but it really bugs me when they spoil their own stuff.
Same thing happened with TNA this week; caught part of one of their One Night Only specials that ruined the outcome of a big match yet to be shown on TV. |

Alexa Bliss is really growing on me.

Holy fuck, I love the wrestling but I have to watch it on mute. That god damn crowd is fucking awful. Bunch of bloated neck beards trying to get themselves over with chants every 5 seconds.
|
Got MSG-like vibes from the setup used this week. Tron being in the background and main camera coming from the usual announcers side on RAW/Smackdown.
|
If only he had the demon, maybe then he would've defeated Owens for the strap.
|
Also, Alexa Bliss is hawt as fuck!
|
Yes. Yes Alexa is...

CJ Parker has requested and was granted his release.

Bit of a shame really, but I don't blame the guy one bit.

Seemed like the WWE gave up on trying to salvage Parker's gimmick or role once he got promoted as top jobber.
Wonder if Bull Dempsey becomes the main jobber to the stars now. Been in that sort of role since the Corbin feud. |
CJ Parker was actually fairly good. In the ring he had some ways to go, but he was a natural talker. He was a great fit for the WWE's style. He reminded me a lot of The Miz. I was hoping to see a stable of entitled millenials pop up in coming weeks. CJ Parker, Brad Maddox and Zack Ryder all helping each other out would have been pretty cool.
TNA jokes aside, he seems like the sort of guy that Derrick Bateman was -- in that there is a tremendous amount of personality there that TNA can bring out. I'd add him to Ethan Carter III's entourage. |
Didn't really feel this week's episode, which is a first in a long while.
Everything was okay. Nothing was actively bad. It was just all kind of there. Sami Zayn came back, after basically being murdered and then totally okay to go on the Middle East tour and then mostly forgotten about until tonight with a pretty average promo and no real interaction with Kevin Owens. Okay. Lucha Dragons vs. Blake/Murphy was better than their live special match, but it looks pretty much just like a way to get a little more rub from the Dragons before they graduate to the main roster. No real story, just mentions on commentayr about the Carmella thing. Emma and Bayley at least have a story, but it's not a very engaging one and didn't advance much. Jason Jordan and Tye Dillenger's match was picking up a story from what feels like two months ago that no one really had a reason to care about. Probably would have helped to have it more immediately after Jordan walking out on Dillenger, but I guess that's what you get with taping four shows at a time and only having an hour of TV. The guy that walked out won, that was it, so I'm assuming this generally gets forgotten and Jason Jordan beats up nobodies for several weeks now. Breeze / Itami was good, but again, just kind of there. They're having a main show sort of feud where one guy wins, then the other, then they fight some more because that qualifies as a feud. Usually NXT is really good at having progression and stories for the matches, with a couple of random tossed together quick matches peppered in each week. This week really felt just like clearing up loose ends that weren't really that important and putting random stuff out there. Even after a special, there's usually at least one or two threads going on to make something on the show have weight. A lot of stuff has closed up over the past couple of weeks, and nothing else has really started up to take it's place. Hopefully they can get some momentum back for the Owens/Zayn thing, but other than that, there doesn't seem to be much going on at the moment, which is a weird feeling for NXT. It probably doesn't help that Wrestlemania and a Raw where a lot of major stuff went down just happened, making an NXT placeholder show stick out even more, which is a weird reversal of the usual dichotomy between the main roster and Raw. Or maybe CJ Parker was the glue that held this show together. |
It's also the time when NXT guys and gals head to the main roster so the creative team is probably waiting for the calls to happen?
|
I thought the crowd was a bit dead this week. I figure they must have been burnt out at the tapings.
Emma is amazing. |
The heel turn with her seems like it is progressing quite realistically. It's going to be heart-wrenching, since her gimmick was so endearing as a face; but I guess this is the best thing for her. I got used to her with the belly-button piercing, so it's odd seeing her without it for some reason.
I like that they've shortened the commentary team down to just Brennan and Graves now. I would like for Jason Albert to make some occasional appearances, and now that he's head trainer, he can speak with even more credibility, but I think some of the guys should get practice in the two-man format. I want to see Graves work with Renee Young though. I know she's color, but I want her to have a shot at being lead. Tye Dillinger and Jason Jordan's stuff seems a bit rushed. I'd have liked a few more promos and a bit of extra build to their match. I know it's not meant to be a major program, but I think both guys could have come out of it with extra shine. |
