Official Saturday Night's Main Event 3/18 Discussion Thread

At Saturday Night’s Main Event, the participants in the WrestleMania 22 main events will collide when the RAW team of WWE Champion John Cena & Triple H takes on the SmackDown trio of Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio & the World Heavyweight Champion.

On the Feb. 27 edition of RAW, Cena & Triple H went face to face, trying to get the psychological advantage before their WWE Championship Match on April 2. After the two men jawed back and forth and looked ready to come to blows, WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon interrupted the showdown. McMahon announced that on Saturday Night’s Main Event, the two would have to co-exist as partners and represent RAW against the three men in the SmackDown main event in a Handicap Match. (WATCH video)

While there is no love lost between Cena & The Game, the SmackDown team is just as tense. Randy Orton & Rey Mysterio, the two challengers for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania, have been at each other’s throats since Rey eliminated the Legend Killer to win the Royal Rumble Match. Joining them will be the Wrestling Machine, Kurt Angle.

On the March 10 edition of SmackDown, Angle and Mysterio teamed up to take on the team of Orton and Mark Henry. In the end, Orton orchestrated a vicious attack that saw Henry splash the World Heavyweight Champion through a table. (WATCH video)

Orton may not like Angle and Mysterio very much, but that didn't stop him from trying to get the advantage over RAW. On the March 13 edition of RAW, Triple H and Cena found themselves on opposite sides of a six man tag team match. As the action broke down, Orton snuck up on an unsuspecting John Cena and laid him out with an RKO. Triple H looked angry at the invasion at first, but then a smile crept over his face, realizing his nemesis was hurt. (WATCH video)

Just one night before this epic battle, Angle, Mysterio & Orton had to coexist as a team on Friday Night SmackDown. While they were able to defeat MNM & Mark Henry, it was not without a bit of controversy; after not tagging in the whole match, Orton made a blind tag and stole Mysterio's pinflal, throwing Rey out of the ring after he had hit a 619 on Joey Mercury. (Watch video)

With so much animosity on both sides, will either team be able to gel as a cohesive unit? Will the numbers game prove to be too much for The Champ & The Game, or will the RAW team overcome the odds and be victorious? Tune in to Saturday Night’s Main Event on March 18 to find out.

If by Wellness you mean Winstrol, then yes he is

G-wrath 03-18-2006 08:10 PM

Must be, but then again...the whole thing is a main event.

:shifty:

true :shifty:

NeanderCarl 03-18-2006 08:10 PM

This has got that "big show" feel to be fair... the last time I watched a TV show that seemed so heated and exciting, it was the only other SNME I ever saw, in 1992, when the Ultimate Maniacs took on Money Inc. in the opener and the crowd seemed very hot.

Maybe they're sweetened the crowd noise if it's on tape delay though.

Innovator 03-18-2006 08:10 PM

I think they went a little overboard on the pyro, smoke everywhere

yeah, and Wrestlemania is supposed to be epic

G-wrath 03-18-2006 08:13 PM

lol

Azriel 03-18-2006 08:13 PM

Eddie chants startng

NeanderCarl 03-18-2006 08:13 PM

Cena's debut on network television and the crowd are ripping on him, big time. Not a good first impression for new viewers' introduction to the "next mainstream wrestling star" is it?

Innovator 03-18-2006 08:13 PM

everytime there is a "Cena sucks" chant, an angel get its wings

Azriel 03-18-2006 08:14 PM

I think SNME is a way of slowly bringing the brands back together. It's very neat.

Azriel 03-18-2006 08:15 PM

Monarch of the Mat, that's a good one

NeanderCarl 03-18-2006 08:16 PM

"Enlarged heart"... yeah, i think Trips is more likely than Mysterio to have one of those, if ya get me?

God, I hope not. The brands need to stay seperate. WWE just needs to realize the strengths and weaknesses of what talent they have before rebooting the show every few months.

On another note, LMAO @ the "Cena Sucks" chants.

I love seeing a show that isn't covered up.

This is weird seeing Rey Mysterio fighting HHH.

and time away from the announce table has made JR better...he's actually calling the match now!

Innovator 03-18-2006 08:18 PM

Anyone else wanna see a HHH vs. Mysterio match? That'd be good

Batsu 03-18-2006 08:18 PM

LMFAO @ the boos!! I love this!!

Innovator 03-18-2006 08:18 PM

YES!

Batsu 03-18-2006 08:19 PM

LMFAO!!! The cheers at the Pedigree!

Innovator 03-18-2006 08:19 PM

I FUCKING LOVE YOU TRIPS
