Gimme a good list of matches that I can show Miss Cubes to get her into wrestling.

My girlfriend is open to the idea of watching wrestling but doesn't know where to start. I already told her to watch Rock vs Hogan mania, because she knew the wrestlers and the story was pretty easy to understand.

She watched Wrestlemania with the group of us that met up in Chicago and enjoyed it too, but I feel like she needs to see more of the great stuff of the past to truly understand my love for wrestling.

That being said, I would like to have some feedback from TPWW on what matches and storylines would be good for me to introduce her to wrestling. I want to ease her in to it until she starts understanding how the matches can tell a story. Any suggestions? I'd like to stick to more mainstream stuff for now.

King of The Ring 96 is a solid card. We've all heard of Austin 3:16, so let her see the birth of it.
Fall Brawl 95- everything except the main event is solid. Hell, that main event was... The card was a beautiful ice cream sundae. The main event was like putting hot sauce and piss on top of the sundae.

Emperor Smeat 05-02-2014 01:33 AM

CM Punk vs John Cena, Money in the Bank 2011. Could also briefly explain the backstory to that match since it was just as good as the match itself.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-02-2014 01:54 AM

Triple H Vs. Shawn Michaels SummerSlam 2002. The song from that match still gives me goosebumps from how awesome that match was. There's alot more i'd reccommend but don't want you to overload her and then have her reject it by showing her too much.

Jimmy Cones 05-02-2014 02:14 AM

Yeah, I don't want her to get overwhelmed, that's why Brett/Stone Cold and Taker/HBK's first mania have to wait. I forgot I showed her Bulldog/Owen European title debut. She really liked the chain wrestling and the crowd work.

FourFifty 05-02-2014 03:13 AM

How about a series of matches with two people? I can't recall which match it was, but on the Rey Mysterio DVD there was Eddie vs Rey. Then show them in WWE, show them as friends, and then rivals. Of course cap it off with Rey vs Eddie in their ladder match.

Hanso Amore 05-02-2014 11:22 AM

YEAH YEAH WE GET IT, you have a girlfriend. Stop bragging to the muties.

Hanso Amore 05-02-2014 11:24 AM

But on topic. THUNDERDOME CAGE MATCH FROM Halloween Havoc 1989

The sheer greatness of that match will whip her into such a frenzy she will immediately accept your seed into her.

Heisenberg 05-02-2014 11:39 AM

The Big Bossman/Al Snow/Steve Blackman series of interactions and matches. late 90s/early 2000s stuff. It may or may not be on the network yet. I think the Big Bossman/Big Show feud is on there.

Show her a few in the prime Rock promos.

Don't show her the early 90s WWF stuff yet, she probably won't appreciate it that much, it's good stuff to us b/c we grew up on it.

Hanso Amore 05-02-2014 11:45 AM

The entire Chi Town heat Starcade will get her cooking in the pants.

Heisenberg 05-02-2014 11:47 AM

Make sure she sees a La Parka entrance, you can't be a wrestling fan until you enjoy a skeleton luchador legend hopping on one foot with a chair and breaking it the hell down with wiggling.

whiteyford 05-02-2014 11:58 AM

The original TLC stuff.

Fox 05-02-2014 12:17 PM

- Eddie Guerrero vs Rey Mysterio at Halloween Havoc 97 for the CW Championship
- Stone Cold vs The Rock at WrestleMania X7 for the WWF Championship
- Triple H vs Cactus Jack at Royal Rumble 2000 for the WWF Championship
- Rob Van Dam vs John Cena at One Night Stand 2 for the WWE Championship

If those don't get her, nothing will.

Jimmy Cones 05-02-2014 12:39 PM

Oh shit, RVD vs Cena for sure.

I feel like there is just soooo much good stuff out there. Keep them comming. I feel like I should almost start with Austin 3:16 and then chronologically find every good feud and show her a highlight reel of the attitude era one wrestler at a time.

Heisenberg 05-02-2014 12:48 PM

I can't really think of matches right now, sorry I went off-kilter. I am a storyline fan for the most part when it comes to discussion

Theo Dious 05-02-2014 04:25 PM

Show her some of the good Rumble matches, like 92, 01, or 11. Can always skip through any boring parts.

road doggy dogg 05-02-2014 04:45 PM

You should probably post pics of her so we can gauge what kind of wrestling she may enjoy

And as soon as a user goes to look at said pictures - RKO out of nowhere.

Rumbles are a good idea too. They are a different kind of match so she won't get bored.

Long match, especially for someone you're trying to ease into something more than just a casual fandom of professional wrestling, so I dunno if you want to risk boring her with a match this long. It definitely seems pretty entertaining, but I guess you'll just have to use your own judgment about how long before you would possibly show her that match.

Curd 05-03-2014 01:03 AM

Kiss My Ass Match between Chris Dickinson and Addy Starr sometime in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (2012 or 2013)

Lock Jaw 05-03-2014 01:14 AM

If you want to get her into current rassling, you should watch some matches with current rasslers.

Daniel Bryan is "the man" right now, so maybe:

Daniel Bryan vs. Bray Wyatt at Royal Rumble 2013
Daniel Bryan vs. Sheamus at Extreme Rules 2/3 Falls
Daniel Bryan vs. CM Punk for the WWE Title, I don't know which one was their best, but they were all pretty good.

Then you can show her some old stuff once she is broken in to the new stuff.

Disturbed316 05-03-2014 02:20 AM

Bret vs Owen, Mania 10

She didn't hate that the video quality was like a glorified house show?

Fox 05-03-2014 08:48 PM

See if she can handle some hardcore... wrestling.

Masato Tanaka vs Mike Awesome for the ECW Championship comes to mind.
Jerry Lynn vs RVD for the TV Title is always good.

Randy Orton vs Mick Foley Hardcore Match from Backlash is a great one, too.

Corndad 05-03-2014 10:29 PM

I'd show her both Andre/Hogan and Steamboat/Savage from WM 3. History lesson as well as it would show her 2 kinds of matches totally. Epic Big Man match (also no matter how much she actually knows about wrestling she should least know about Hogan) and Epic Fast Paced Amazing Match.

If not the Punk/Cena match from MITB a few years ago is also an amazing choice.

screech 05-03-2014 11:01 PM

Edge and Christian vs The Hardys from No Mercy 1999.

Another awesome HC match.

Brigstocke 05-04-2014 07:05 AM

Foley, Rock, Shamrock.. three way cage match at In Your House something or other was fantastic.

Savio 05-04-2014 10:45 AM

Alicia Fox vs Melina

Savio 05-04-2014 10:48 AM

UnderTaker vs Muhammad Hassan
HBK vs John Cena II

Are some pretty good ones.

Nowhere Man 05-04-2014 11:01 AM

Taker vs HBK at Mania 25. The story is straightforward but still effective (Taker in a match he's never lost, but against an opponent he's never really beaten), the match itself is a masterpiece, and if she likes it enough to want to see the rematch at Mania 26, you can show how characters can evolve as their stories progress.

Crippla 05-04-2014 12:38 PM

Def Royal Rumble matches, KotR tournament matches, epic/legendary title matches, etc.

Brigstocke 05-04-2014 01:26 PM

Anything with JR on commentary really, He sells the excitement of it all better than anyone.

Jura 05-04-2014 01:29 PM

Tell her to save herself and don't watch wrestling.

It was Breakdown: In Your House. They included it as one of the matches in Attitude Era mode in WWE '13.

Corndad 05-05-2014 06:49 PM

Just remembered Rock/Taker/Angle from Vengeance 2002 would be a great watch to get a newer person involved. Loved that match.

If you're not careful, your girlfriend will get tired of you liking fake sports and one day you'll wake up with her blowing a black man in the bed, beside you.
