Yeah, think you got him just in time for Orton's disaster against San Diego and Tim's first game. I'd say give it a couple weeks. Let Tim settle in and adjust and Decker should be scoring TDs all over the place.

I'm surprised no one has gone with the throwing the Christian to the Lions theme for this weeks Broncos game.

I guess that could also work for the upcoming Vikings Lions game. Get on it ESPN.

DaveBrawl 10-28-2011 07:26 PM

I'm in the same boat Screech. I've had him since like week 2 or 3 and he has been way down for the last 2 or 3 weeks, but hopefully he will really turn it around in the next week or two.

Close enough I suppose.

Nark Order 10-29-2011 12:51 PM

I'm going to cheer while I can this season and I'll take it for what it is but fuck. I've got this staunch gut feeling that the Niners go like 12-4 or 13-3 and then lose in the first round of the playoffs. They aren't going to be challenged nearly enough with their schedule to be ready for the top caliber teams.

Pretty ambitious of Jim Harbaugh to act as the head coach and the mascot of the team. Love that man.

Droford 10-29-2011 01:03 PM

if the 49ers defense stays as good as it is, I could see the 49ers and Packers in the NFC Champ game.

Nark Order 10-29-2011 01:10 PM

Well, unfortunately defense only gets you so far if the offense is inconsistent. Well, maybe. Some teams go all the way with strong defense only but it's far more difficult to do than if a team were properly balanced. So far we've been alright on offense but the 49ers are definitely relying on their go-to guys way too much for yardage. Frank Gore can only do so much before people find a way to shut him off. Alex Smith has been playing a good season but I'm wondering how far it's going to last. Braylon Edwards comes back this week so that gives us another weapon assuming that he doesn't drop passes and Smith can get him the ball. Michael Crabtree looks like he wants to start playing up to his ego also which would be wonderful, but I'll believe it when I see it.

I want to believe.

If the Raven's Offense stays as bad as it is, I could see them not making the playoffs..

9ers are good, but have little to no competition in the West as Narc said..

This makes me sad because I can also see this.

:(

screech 10-29-2011 01:22 PM

On the bright side, I wouldn't have to watch them choke in the playoffs again.

Droford 10-29-2011 01:24 PM

Ravens offense isn't bad. In their 4 wins they've scored 29+ points each game. If anything they're a shitty road team (1-2 on the Road, only win vs the Rams) which doesn't have my hopes up too high for next Sunday night when they go to Pissburgh. If they can somehow win the Division and at least get some home playoff games they'll be fine.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-29-2011 01:28 PM

I hope the Ravens make the playoffs. When Ray Lewis' misses the playoffs, people get murdered.

Browns-49ers Preview: 3 Things To Watch

October 28, 2011 8:35 pm

Two teams led by first-year head coaches square off on Sunday in Candlestick Park as the Cleveland Browns head west to battle the San Francisco 49ers. The Browns head into the game with a 3-3 record after a hard-fought 6-3 win against the Seattle Seahawks. The 49ers enter the game with a 5-1 record and are coming off of their bye week, which was preceded by a dramatic win against the Detroit Lions that was concluded by one of the most controversial handshakes in postgame history.

Three Things to Watch:

1. D’Qwell Jackson vs. Frank Gore

Despite the change in head coaches, the 49ers’ offensive game plan remains the same: hand off to Frank Gore, hand off to Frank Gore, and then hand off to Frank Gore one more time. Gore is eighth in the NFL with 541 rushing yards on 109 attempts. The 49ers are second-last in the league in passing yardage, averaging only 171 yards per game. The Browns have the best pass defense in the NFL, and the 49ers will have a tough time winning without a stellar performance from Gore. Browns linebacker D’Qwell Jackson, who has showed no ill effects this season from the injuries that have plagued him over the past few seasons, will do his best to keep Gore from running roughshod over the Browns’ defense. Jackson is sixth in the NFL with 40 solo tackles and he will seek to add to that total on Sunday as he attempts to limit Gore’s production.

2. Montario Hardesty vs. Patrick Willis

Last week, the Browns went back to their characteristic run-heavy style in the win against the Seahawks. Star running back Peyton Hillis could not play because of a hamstring injury and second-year running back Montario Hardesty got the start for the Browns. Hardesty’s career-high 33 carries for 95 yards against a tough Seahawks run defense helped the Browns control the clock and maintain control of the game. Hillis has missed two practices this week, and it is possible that his hamstring injury will once again force him to the sidelines. The 49ers currently have the second-best run defense in the league, allowing only 74.7 rushing yards per game. The Browns have struggled in games in which quarterback Colt McCoy has been forced to throw often, and another strong performance from Hardesty will be necessary if Hillis’s hamstring prevents him from playing this week. Pro Bowl linebacker Patrick Willis will do his best to contain Hardesty and keep him from allowing the Browns to control the game on the ground.

3. The Browns’ Special Teams vs. Ted Ginn, Jr.

In recent seasons, the Browns’ special teams were one of the team’s strongest areas. This year, the Browns’ special teams have struggled mightily. In their game against the Oakland Raiders, the Browns surrendered a kickoff return for a touchdown to the Raiders’ Jacoby Ford. Last week, the Browns almost surrendered a punt return for a touchdown to the Seahawks’ Leon Washington but were bailed out by a very questionable illegal block penalty. This week, the Browns will face Ted Ginn, Jr., one of the league’s premier returners. Ginn began the season by returning a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown in the 49ers’ first game and has continued to excel throughout the course of the season. The 49ers currently lead the NFL in kickoff return yardage, averaging 30.9 yards per return. Additionally, they are fifth in punt return yardage, averaging 13.7 yards per return. The Browns’ special teams units will need to contain Ginn and limit him from pulling off yet another highlight-reel runback.

Prediction: Sure, last week’s Browns\Seahawks game wasn’t pretty from an offensive standpoint. Nevertheless, the fact that the Browns’ defense played a solid game and stopped the Seahawks when they needed to do so in order to win the game was lost amidst fan laments about a lack of offensive firepower. The Browns will bring another solid defensive effort this week and keep the game close, but the Browns’ offensive struggles will keep them from getting the points that they need to win. Gore and quarterback Alex Smith will be able to do just enough to help the 49ers earn their sixth victory of the season by a score of 17-10.

Feel like that article is playing up the Willis/Hardesty match-up a bit too much. I don't think Hardesty will even be able to dent the Niners defense. He's been given a ridiculous amount of carries and has delivered very little yardage. Against a smash mouth defense like the 9ers, I suspect probably around the same. I expect him to get some solid carries but with fairly small gains.

Nark Order 10-29-2011 05:18 PM

That being said, I hope Montario Hardesty does SOMETHING as I'm pretty much forced to play him in Fantasy this week.

This is why I hate fantasy football.. having to play guys against your team or having to start guys from division rivals while secretly praying they lose..

Feel like Fantasy Football is one of the greatest marketing ploys of all time and an answer to the question "How can we get fans to watch games from teams other than their home team?"

DaveBrawl 10-29-2011 07:12 PM

I can't believe I sold out and got Rivers as my fantasy teams qb. So disappointed in myself.

Not really, teams scout QBs so that they can have some notes and video on them for when they have to play them in the NFL. It's why Denver scouted a shitload of QBs last year despite having no interest in actually drafting them

Also, I read coaches who are close will have their buddies scout players for them so as to not give away interest. Shanahan did it with Fisher for Cutler

Supreme Olajuwon 10-30-2011 01:58 AM

I'm sure Denver scouted a shitload of QBs last year because Tebow is not a franchise quarterback.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-30-2011 01:59 AM

But what do I know about intangibles?

Nark Order 10-30-2011 10:47 AM

Tebow is a franchise quarterback now whether anybody likes it or not. Unless he is completely horrible from now on, I don't know if the fans are going to let them demote him.

Droford 10-30-2011 12:22 PM

Tebow's performance today is gonna make Flacco's monday night debacle look good.

Skippord 10-30-2011 12:47 PM

that's Joe "Better Than Peyton Manning" Flacco right?

Supreme Olajuwon 10-30-2011 12:52 PM

do you guys remember that time Droford said Joe Flacco was better than Peyton Manning
