My expectations were through the roof going in and I think they delivered. The opening long-shot action sequence was fantastic, most of the humour was on point, the bait and switch with Hawkeye and Quicksilver ("You didn't see that coming!"), I think they got the balance between dealing with this immediate threat, and setting up the next slate of movies just about right; there should be themes that tie everything together.

Maybe some are feeling a little fatigued by the main characters? GOTG was a hit in part to the unknown quantity/low expectations vibe, Avengers (and its solo films) don't get the benefit of that after 10+ installments.

My fiancee gave it 10/10 so no complaints from me.

(Though I did sit right to the end only to get an 'Avengers will return' message. Pah!)
