On principle alone, I should hate this game or at least be overwhelmed by it. The Open World Rule puts it under scrutiny. The difference here is that being Batman is tons of fun. It's not a collection of pixels that happens to be in the shape of Batman. I am motherfucking Batman and I get to do all the cool things Batman gets to do, short of banging Selina Kyle. Doing a bunch of side stuff would normally be off-putting and exhausting, but they made this "city" rewarding to explore. Even if I didn't do a single odd job, the main game is plenty to sink your teeth into, with great boss battles and some neat twists. I haven't played any of the games that came after this one, but I imagine it's tough to top.
