Now is the ideal time to kill off Rita IMO (not that I want her gone...she's smokin'). He seems to be realising how much he actually cares for her. I do believe that Dexter adopted the kids when they were married, and he has one of his own with Rita. It would be interesting to see how he would cope as a single parent in season 5, while also trying to satisfy his need to kill.
