As much as I hate Mojo, this would be a help in the "new stars" department.
Hawkins starts picking up victories and ends up with the US Title (from whatever face gets it from Owens).

Cue Zack Ryder return. Hawk claims he was the better of the two the whole time, and holds a championship to prove it. Maybe sprinkle in some Edgehead or Major Bros. references. They start a war that Zack ends up not winning in the end (not a straight, immediate loss... that would kill him dead)... Maybe non title victories, but a dirty title match loss. Bonus points if it has something to do with the Mojo/Jinder issue that costs him. Zack can move into the title picture (screw you, he deserves it at this point after being boned so much).

Build up Hawkins-tonk Man's stock/keep title prestige by feeding him some wins. He, Mojo, and Zack are better off than just not being worthwhile whilst trying to put everything on the strength of Orton and Styles and eventually Nakamura (who hopefully won't be oversaturated because he's so fucking over). They're great, but can't be the entire show all the damn time. That's part of the point of having a strong midcard, and Hawkins can lead that charge.
