If you listen to his theme song, it’s obvious the take away is “ok here’s a guy that really likes butts.” But rarely, if ever does his character reference other people’s asses on screen. So you look at that and think “well here’s a guy who really likes to show off his butt.” But then why is his theme song so aggressively promoting his infatuation with other people’s asses?

I think this lack of clarity is probably the main reason why Billy Gunn was never able to establish himself as a singles competitor.
As a kid, I always thought it was about his own ass, or just the thematic concept of asses. It was a long time before I realized that it was probably a shortened version of "Badd Ass." Like, "That's MR. Badd Ass to you." So it's Mr. Ass.

His son should call himself Austin Ass.
