In the business world, 5 years is about standard for a no-compete clause.
Don't know about pro wrestling though.
However, it's appropriate. They let him out of wrestling for them, he chose to say he would not wrestle for that duration in order to get out of being contractually obliged for that duration. Basically, Brock's in court to argue that he was too fucking stupid.
However, he likely does stand a good chance of winning, which is kind of sad. I'd like to smack him upside the head for being this much of a whiny, retarded little bitch.
