Heyman mentioned on his podcast with Austin a few months back that ECW was owed $7 million in PPV money from On Demand...but On Demand realized ECW had no means to make any money without a TV deal and so they decided to not pay it cause they knew Heyman/ECW couldn't afford the legal fees to take them to court.

And on the flip side, nobody wanted to give them a TV deal because they didn't have any money, and weren't willing to bank on ECW getting the $7 million they were owed. They were always up shit's creek.

Heyman estimated that if they got the $7 million they could have retained RVD, got a minor but still important TV deal, and continue running PPVs and getting revenue from that. Many of the guys who went on to compose the original ROH roster would have probably been ECW guys instead. Could have been interesting.
