Experience, observation, etc. Also biologically/evolutionary, women are attracted to manlier men. A man who is manly appears stronger. Manly features include big muscles, a deep voice, and a beard. These are the features women evolutionary find attractive. Women want man who is more powerful and protective.
Same thing why a man finds attraction for women who are better at giving children. This is why men are attracted to women with bigger hips (easier to give birth) and big boobs (better to feed baby) Again, this is not true for EVERYONE but it id true on a biological/natural level. It comes from evolution to be like this.
