Saw the movie on Monday. I thought it was pretty good. I liked the CGI (it was pretty nice seeing all these mythical beasts moving) and the voiceovers.

I just got back from taking the kids to this. It couldn't end soon enough for me. The kids seemed to like it.

But you thought King Kong sucked I'm so confused. This Narnia movie was stale. I completely agree with Ninti on this one. Ah well, each his own and all that. |

Anybody see the SNL rap about this? The first SNL skit I've seriously laughed at loud at in years. It was on a couple of weeks ago, but apparently you can find it all over the 'Net.

I really enjoyed it. Funnily enough, I was made aware of the religious connotations back in like grade 4, since I attended a religious school. I am very surprised to hear there are people here who hadn't even heard of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe prior to this movie. That is pretty shocking (not shocking as in "bad", just shocking as in "surprising"). It was recently voted one of like the top 5 books all children should read by a big group of librarians.
Anyway, I thought overall the movie was pulled off very well. The kid who played Edmund did really well, since he was easily very unlikeable, as is the goal initially. The soundtrack was very good as well, very different to most other fantasy movies. It had an "Enya-esque" undertone throughout, with the sorta haunting female vocals and such. I agree with 'Nunder, the lack of blood was a nice touch to keep the movie accessible for all ages. |

Just came back from watching it, it was ok. I really hate posh kids, so I had to push that hatred to the back of my mind throughout the whole thing. It was acted pretty good considering how young the actors are. Had some really cheesey moments though. But overall it was entertaining enough.
Too many fucking kids in the audience for my liking, gotta expect it though for a film like this. |

The Narnia series on the other hand is a great series of childrens books that I loved as a kid and as I said before translated really well on the big screen (or the small screen if you have it on DVD ) Strip away the CGI and you still have a great story. Yes to each his own etc, but know this - by agreeing with Ninti you are agreeing with a man who actually liked Doom... |

I've not seen Doom. I bet it was ok for what it was. I would not have liked it most likely.

lol wtf
Why am I being mentioned so much? Anyway, I liked Doom because I had little expectations out of it. It turned out much better than I expected. I had high expectations for Narnia. It was grade A B-movie material. I also saw King Kong and I only liked the jungle scenes. Very well done fight scenes. After that, I wanted the movie to end. Too long for something that I know how its going to end. |
