Also Randy looked to be in terrible shape.
Now honestly I'm just going by the highlights on sportscenter. So very possible I'm wrong here. He kinda looked like a Chemo patient. |

Randy was in perfect shape. He didn't look out of breath once in that fight.
I didn't think the shot that knocked him down looked like much. Still, I didn't take it so who am I to judge? The ref was right really, most of them shots were going straight into the guard, but the ones that hit were brutal. Couture was still defending at the very end, just not very well. You had that feeling Randy was doomed after just a few minutes. Who does Couture fight next? He has 2 fights on his contract, right? |

just rewatched it again. Randy looked to be in a little better shape then Lesnar to me. They both looked good though. Brock looked a little gassed in the first round, but who wouldn't I guess?? The weight differance really hurt Randy here. Yea, the punch Couture took seemed like nothing, but again, we're not taking that punch. The ref did let it go on for a bit more then it should have. Lesnar looked good, but I think he would have a tough time against someone like Nog. He seemed a little uncomfortable in there at times. dunno

first time i've seen lesnar fight. he's pretty good. threw some sweet enough knees and elbows, the one thing is though he seems to take a split second too long to capitalize when he has his opponent rocked, and that could make all the difference.

Yeah, when he caught him with that elbow, and had Uncle Randy on weak knees, he should have gone for the kill.. But, this was only his FOURTH MMA fight so that kind of thing comes with time I guess..

I thought the same thing about the punch until I realized who threw it. A punch that seems 'not very hard' from Lesnar is like a thousand times what the average man could throw.

I was impressed with Brock, shocked he won, I thought that Randy would of killed him within a minute.
I loved how he didn't seem to care that he even won, just stood up and walked off... |

At first the shot didn't look bad, but it was right on the fucking temple, bye bye equilibrium.
If Brock gets by Big Nog (cause I really don't want to see Brock-Mur 2), it could be a while before anyone beats him |

It looks like Randy got punched right on a pressure point, I'd guess that's why it caused so much damage.

Sherdog are funny. I popped hard for Lesnar though. I was dying for Randy to be humbled after how he acted during his time off.

WWE issued the following on their main headlines section today: LAS VEGAS - In a stunning upset, Brock Lesnar became the first man to capture both the WWE Championship and the UFC Heavyweight Championship when he defeated UFC fan favorite Randy "The Natural" Couture on Saturday night in Sin City. Lesnar, dubbed "The Next Big Thing" upon his arrival in WWE, earned the moniker and his first WWE Championship in 2002 after besting The Rock at SummerSlam. Thanks in large part to the backing of the WWE Universe, the former college wrestling phenomenon went on to regain the title twice, both times against Kurt Angle, once at WrestleMania in 2003 and then six months later on SmackDown. For Lesnar, the road to UFC gold proved surprisingly short. Within roughly six months, the former WWE Superstar climbed to the top of the ultimate fighting heap, capping his ascent with the upset victory over Couture. Critics have noted that many of the fights on the UFC pay-per-view ended in the first round, leaving UFC producers scrambling to fill the three-hour event with content. The dearth of hearty competition left many viewers to watch less prestigious under-card fights and only served to bolster claims that UFC pay-per-view events can often be a "crap shoot" in regards to filling the full three hours. For his part, Lesnar took the encouragment of the WWE Universe and the hard lessons forged during his fiery time at WWE and showed UFC and the world why he is not only a man of mettle but also a former three-time WWE Champion. That's a really NASTY dig at UFC by WWE for sure.

WWE kind of comes off like an animal backed into a corner and they have to fire off these ridiculous cheap shots.

My thoughts!
That shot randy took was brutal. He didnt take it to the temple, he took it right behind his ear at the bottom of the skull by the brain stem. That shot doesnt knock you out it paralyses your body for a brief time. There is this one guy who I train with that is a south paw and he has looping hooks, and he has hit me on that spot a few times when he throws his hook and it zings me pretty bad, except hes 170 so he doesnt drop me. Lesnar is huge and if you take a shot from him in that spot, then your body is going to go limp. It was very smart on mario yamasaki's part to let lesnar beat on randy for a long time. There was no argument on the result because of it. I wanted Randy to win, but oh well, brock is probably going to lose to nog. |

Antonio Nog or Frank Mir.
Question and I know it was brought up before, but I forget what was said. Would you guys like a seperate MMA Forum? It seems like it's getting too big for just a thread and I think having a forum would be a lot easier to read news and updates from the MMA world. Everything would be spaced out. just let me know what you think? |

well my whole thing is that having MMA in a seperate forum would help people get into everything a little more. Having posts on the Ultimate Fighter, on various news, on the upcoming fights in one single thread really takes away from a lot of good conversations we could have if we were to seperate everything. And in my opinion, it would be easier for people to get into MMA more if there were different topics to read about. the reader can learn a lot more that way. I know that sometimes people see a thread with 80 somewhat pages and kind of get detered by it.
I'll get with Trips and see what we can do here |
