Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City


I originally put this in the news thread but thought it might deserve it's own thread. The game takes place during RE 2 and 3.

From Wikipedia:

The game will allow players to either side with the Umbrella Security Services or a US Special Operations task-force as they experience the events of the game. Alongside a single player mode, the game will also offer a 4 player co-operative mode as the player experiences the events of the game. Operation Raccoon City will allow the player to make decisions that could have major repercussions on series canon, such as causing the death of Leon S. Kennedy during the course of the game.

Revealed so far is the ability to play as 4 different Umbrella Security Services members, each with their own unique abilities. For instance, one of the revealed characters, Vector, is equipped with a cloaking ability.

A multiplayer mode is also confirmed, which pits the USS against the US Government, with the latter looking to uncover the situation Umbrella is attempting to hide.

If one of their big gimmicks is some grand 'what if' moment than I'm forced to believe they don't have much to offer. You're not edgy or controversial. Move on and show me something.

Play as spectre, vector, hector, or fat girl's name, and retro-actively abort the Resident Evil franchise!

Jog on, Capcom, just hurry up with RE4 + CVX in HD and I'll be rather happy with those.

"Abort the RE franchise" heh

This is a spin-off so the studio can do what they want, even if it's a silly idea. But this will do nothing to the franchise but embarrass the team working on it. No sweat off Capcom's back.

Bring on the 3DS games.

Good point about it being a spin-off, for some reason I jumped to the conclusion that this was meant to be RE 6.

The Chronicles series on the Wii were not that bad either since they sort of filled in most of what had occurred during the games or in between games with the Darkside Chronicles being better overall than the Umbrella Chronicles.

I have mixed interest for this game at the moment since Capcom is testing the "move while your shooting" aspect to see how well it could work before putting it in a main RE game but it seems a bit dumb to toss out the whole Resident Evil storyline for a spin-off or "alternative reality" game.

Possibly, but they should have put a massive disclaimer on the case saying that they would ruin the single-player just to make co-op work.
