dxva2.dll
Yo,
I'm getting Windows Media Player crashes when I attempt to sync my Archos MP3 player. I followed instructions online and it seems the problem is dxva2.dll. I've tried options to repair or replace it, and currently I've been told I do not have permission to change my system32 directory. Ignoring the fact that I've done it before, I followed instructions for shit and find I still can't. I have no fucking clue what's not happening here. Anyone got any tips and/or adivce? Well, besides not mucking with DLL files and the system32 folder? |

Just a simple suggestion but is everything up to date? I mean current version?

Make sure, I find that works quite often for me if I have computer problems.

Put it this way: I already upgraded the supposed culprit before hitting this snag. Since this is a process that deals with installed software and the only one that's got a problem is Windows Media Player, there is no program I know of that is not up to date.
This is why I'm looking for soemthing a little outside-the box. |

Go to the task manager and manually stop WMP. Plug in your player and try syncing.
Have to do this with firefox at times when it crashes and will not open until I remove the process in the task manager. |

Turn off UAC and try replacing the .dll. Boot into a cmd window with admin privileged and copy the .dll that way. Boot into safe mode and try replacing the .dll. Reinstall Windows.

Found a program called TakeControl. It allowed me to do what every other attempt to change ownership of the DLL didn't do and saved me a reinstall. Thanks guys.
