And I'm a tight arse and want to upgrade to Windows 7. Where would be the best place for me to find a good torrent or something?

You can't upgrade XP to Win7. It's only upgradable from Vista.
You'd have to back up all your data, find all the disks for your programs, reformat your HDD to 7 and then reinstall everything.

Or you could buy a new HDD and install 7 and use the XP drive as a secondary.

Another consideration is whether or not Win7 will even run on your XP computer as some hardware is incompatible.

I had a chat with our Tech Bay guy at work and he doesn't seem to think it'll be an issue. He's upgrading my computer from 1GB ram to 4, and I have backed everything up ready for it. I figured talking to the guys who sell computers for a living at work was probably a better option than me fucking around with things that I have no knowledge on.

Just read that when Windows 8 launches this year, it will only be a $39.99 upgrade from XP/Vista/7 to it before Jan 1st. That might even make me go legitimate if I can get rid of fucking Metro.

The actual OS is great. The interface is the worst thing I have ever had the misfortune of using, mouse wise. Would be great with touch interface only.

Kinda. Using a third party tool called ViStart makes it look like W7. Just gotta hope that Metro apps don't take off.
