In this topic, we book Johnny Curtis. How would you do it?
Fan, I'm talking to you more so than everyone else. I think you and I are the biggest Johnny Curtis fans on the board. Although that may be a huge assumption.

First and foremost, Fandango was cool at first, but it was pretty obvious it was an "only go so far" kinda gimmick, that of which I think hindered Curtis.

He'd have to go on a losing streak. Denounce the gimmick. Come out as a badass submission machine.

Nah really, I would love to see him get frustrated, almost a worked shoot. Maybe something happens to Summer Rae and she's in danger and plays the knight in shining armor a la Drew McIntyre for the baby face turn. Just spitballin here with a bunch of incomplete thoughts.

I loved the whole cliche thing. Remember being really annoyed that they built it for weeks and weeks only to have him squashed by Henry and taken off TV. Such a waste of time.

I think they had a golden opportunity to get him out of the Fandango gimmick with the whole Summer Rae/Layla thing.

What you would do is have another girl show up (preferably a rehired Maxine), who would just be like "Johnny Curtis, what the hell do you think you're doing?" and Curtis would be like "SSssssssshhhhh. Shut up.... you'll queer the deal....."

The other woman would reveal that Fandango wasn't really a dancer at all, and was just Johnny Curtis trying to get weird with "freaky dance chicks" as he describes them.

Johnny Curtis' big scheme revealed, he gradually reverts back to the slimeball character trying to find his next scheme to either make it big or at the very least get weird with more hot chicks.

The Summer Rae/Layla thing is done, but you could get back on track if they do some weird segments of Fandango "searching" for a new dancer each week. Then the other woman would come out and kick off that story.

Monday on Raw just have him say now that he doesnt have a dance partner he can no longer dance and hates dancing. The next couple of weeks have him attack Adam Rose's rosebuds for dancing, because Johnny Curtis hates dancing. That leads to a match against Rose that he wins easly. After that have him join the Athority and have him face Ziggler for the IC title.

I'm not usually a fan of the idea of a guy coming out to denounce the silly gimmick and get super serious. Especially with Curtis who would be at his best being himself and just showing his natural charisma and likability by never taking himself TOO seriously.

Have him be the most shocking Royal Rumble winner of all time. The next night, Raw's ratings break all kinda of records (OBVIOUSLY) as people tune in to see what the follow up to Fandango winning the Rumble is. Jerry Lawler is in the ring and introduces him to the crowd and he comes out in full Fandango mode, dancing even as he is being interviewed and Lawler's like "You will be facing a monster in Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Title at WrestleMania. Don't you think you should take this a little more seriously?" to which he replies "Don't worry, Jerry. I got this." and just smiles confidently.

The next week we see Paul Heyman backstage being interviewed by Renee Young, laughing about Brock's WrestleMania opponent when suddenly Fandango sneaks up behind him with a rag and chloroforms him, looking at Renee and saying "Shhh" and he drags Heyman off. Later that night, he is seen wheeling Heyman out to the arena tied to a chair and threatens to roll him off the side of the stage if he doesn't give him what he wants. He wants a match with the stipulation of his choosing next week on Raw against Brock Lesnar. Heyman agrees. Fandango chooses the stipulation... a dance contest.

Next week rolls around and out comes Lesnar followed by Fandango. Fandango starts and does a dance and then Lesnar gets on the mic. "You wanna see me make a fool out of myself? You wanna see me dance? How about I show you a dance move called 'ripping your damn head off...'" Fandango takes the mic and feigns worry for a moment before suddenly hitting Brock with the mic, superkicking him in the face and then jumping up to the top rope and hitting the leg drop. He takes the mic as Lesnar rolls out of the ring, being held back by a shocked Paul Heyman and collects himself and says "I guess that's a DQ. You win. You beat me at my own game. Maybe I'm not cut out for dancing after all. I guess I'm gonna have to even the score at WrestleMania by beating you at your game, kicking your ass and taking your title."

The following weeks consist of training vignettes with legends and Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Edge, Hulk Hogan and finally The Undertaker coming out to throw their support behind Johnny Curtis to do what no one thinks he can do and bring the title back home (full time).

I would do a reboot. His new gimmick is that he is now a country music singer called Jamie Lee and he will be one of those fake country dudes who is really from the city but pretends to be all hick. He can feud with the Uso on the left. Who wouldn't want to see Jamie Lee Curtis vs Uso on the left?

During the Jericho feud when Summer Rae pretended to injure herself mid-dance, I had the idea for him to actually injure her during a dance and become traumatized. They would do on location interviews from his home where he'd be sitting in a rocking chair, unshaven, sadly telling the world that he'll never dance again. Then he eventually returns "reborn" without the gimmick. Maybe after a couple months have him agree to a one-off dance contest against a diva and a guy whom Summer Rae is feuding with just for a "feel good" moment when he overcomes his demons and wins it.

In fact, he's good enough that if they had just actually followed up the "biggest upset in WrestleMania history" and consistently booked him as a force, he could have ended up subtly transcending the gimmick without them ever having to change his name or have a moment where he "denounces" it or anything. Kinda like The Undertaker was a silly, corny name and gimmick that ended up becoming iconic and transcending the goofy aspects.

I feel like being the "demon of death valley" while it could have the corny aspects also worked well from a "take me serious" standpoint. I'm not really sure if "Fandango" with his dancing could accomplish the same.

I legit think he's charismatic enough to be the next John Cena, with the right situation/booking.

I almost love this idea, until maybe the end part. If he could somehow get Brock Lesnar to put the title on the line in that dance contest, I'd be more behind it. Have him win it that way.

I'd be for Curtis returning as a member of Team Authority at Survivor Series. It was only a minor moment, but do you remember when Triple H said that Fandango could be an A+ Player? Have him come out as the fifth Team Authority guy -- using the ring name "JC Curtis" or something like that -- and just have him be the next-in-line guy behind Seth Rollins. Give him a new theme that starts off with the Fandango intro, but then skips into something cool.

You can wed his successes as NXT Season 4 Winner and the guy who beat Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 29 into this character. The Authority give him an Intercontinental Title shot against Dolph Ziggler, and he wins that match to capture his first championship. He and Dolph have a Ladder Match for the title at TLC, which Curtis wins, possibly with assist from Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury.

Curtis becomes a "guy" in the Royal Rumble. He's not presented as the favorite or anything, but he's in the discussion and has a solid run in the match. Dare I say, you could even have him eliminate John Cena from the match. Maybe a pissed off Cena then Attitude Adjustments Curtis out of it, to even some boos and Michael Cole questioning the ethics of Cena.

Nikki Bella ends up turning on Cena during a match with Curtis at Fast Lane. She and Curtis hook up, and Curtis starts calling himself "The Better John." Cena and Curtis keep into it as we head into WrestleMania, with Cena being more of an aggressive personality, trying to prove he's still the top dog (a role he's been pretty much playing since his feud with Bray Wyatt). The question of whether or not Cena can win the IC Title and complete his Grand Slam is also used as a selling point for that match.

At that point, I honestly think you could put Cena over Curtis at WrestleMania and have him win the IC Title and then have Curtis win the title back at Extreme Rules without hurting anyone. You could then bring in Chris Jericho for a few IC Title matches against Curtis, maybe with Jericho winning his tenth IC Title and getting the white strap version for the first time, only for Curtis to win it back and become a three-time champion by SummerSlam next year. If Curtis is going well, you could even give him the Money in the Bank briefcase. After he loses the IC Title for a third time, this one to a rising babyface star, Curtis says "Screw it, I'm moving onto bigger and better things," and "graduates" from the division, so to speak. He works a program with a top babyface -- maybe Randy Orton or Sheamus -- and he manages to steal a PPV victory over them. By then, Roman Reigns will probably be WWE World Champion, so you can find a way for him to be knocked down by a rival, which leads to Curtis hitting a Flying Leg Drop and cashing in his title shot. Reigns then moves into a program with the guy who took him out whilst Curtis works a program as champion with another babyface -- possibly Daniel Bryan.
