I will accept Die Hard and Indy 4 as legit decent sequels. Rocky IV is really quite "ehhhh" beyond nostalgia. Star Wars is an interesting case because of the huge time difference. Phantom Menace would be what we're talking about. You can consider it the fourth of the overall series, but it's really the first of a new trilogy. Either way, it's probably the de facto worst.

And no matter how you look at it The Phantom Menace still sucks.
So you're right anyway. |

I think Phantom Menace is a far better movie than Attack of the Clones. Either way, both aren't nearly as good as the original trilogy or Revenge of the Sith.
It's hard to apply Star Wars here since they're made in trilogies and so far apart, but yea. It would have been interesting to see if The Hobbit lived up to the LOTR trilogy, or suffered from fan expectation syndrome. We might not even see that now, though... |

Their claim is that he has other projects and they're looking for a new director altoghether, but that sounds like a statement to stall the decision.
The Lovely Bones was a critical and financial failure, and he could probably use the bounceback. I wouldn't be suprised to see him take over. I hope he does. Bringing in a new director now that they've written and designed the whole thing would be a disaster, I think. Who else could really be up to task, especially when it's got others creative DNA all over it going in? I think it's pretty much Peter Jackson or bust |

The original JP will forever be a great classic movie in my heart and I though both the sequels were good each in their own right so I'm all for this unless the premise is utterly ridiculous.

It's more or less on par with TOD. I'd have like a bit less lazy looking CGI, but other than that I enjoyed the story, characters, and Indy elements.
I think complaints about nuking the fridge and the like just reflects a more cynical age of moviegoers. Like jumping out of a plane in a raft, or any of the other shit that happens all the time in Indy movies makes any more sense... I think these days people just like their heroes like Bourne, or the new Batman and Bond. Indy didn't really change, his crowd did. I thought it was fun in the same spirit as the originals, while having a really clever story. IMHO. I know this a touchy subject among movie fans |

Actually Rambo was pretty good. Not nearly as good as First Blood, but a big step up from Rambo III.

People are such drama queens over the last Indy. Not nearly as bad as what people say. In fact, all the hate makes the movie look better.

Aliens aren't any more ridiculous than the powers of the other artifacts he's chased. They're just a new direction. Same with his son. He's the son of Indy and Marion so obviously he's going to be some kind of genetic treasure hunting freak.

I'd like to think that they'd be aware of the stigma of a 4th installment and try not to fuck it up.

It was also brilliant to me, since the movie was logically set years later in the 1950s, at the height of the flying saucer craze. Couple that with The Red Scare, and making the Russians the villains. I was just a fan of what they did. I didn't see it as any departure from the original format, at all. |

muldoon: taken out swiftly by animals he is supposedly an expert on, without getting a shot off
tembo: glorified hunter who bags himself a motherfucking t-rex and lives to talk about it he is badass. |

This is a game trail, Mr. Ludlow. Carnivores hunt on game trails. Do you want to set up basecamp in the middle of a buffet?
Peter? If you want me to run your little camping trip there are two conditions, firstly: I'm in charge and when I'm not around Dieter is. All you need to do is sign the cheques and open your case of scotch when we have a good day. Secondly: My fee, you can keep it. All I want in exchange for my services is the right to hunt one of the Tyrannosauruses. A Male. A Buck only. How and why are my business, now if you don't like either of those two conditions you're on your own. So go ahead, set up base camp right here, or in a swamp or in the middle of the Rex nest for all I care. But I've been on too many safaris with rich dentists to listen to any more sucidal ideas. Ok? |

Roland Tembo was easily the best part of that movie. He had some awesome lines and moments.
It should also be pointed out that he was gay, they just never outright said it, but he was. |

that doesn't change anything, he still smashed himself a tyrannosaur.

I'm not saying it changes anything. I'm just pointing it out that he's a badass Tyranosaur hunter who happens to be homosexual, most likely. He smashes T-Rexes and stereotypes. Take that homophobes

Going to take this oppurtunity to point out how lame the Dino Hunters William H. Macy hired were in JP3.
He hired Mr. Noodle. They were all terrified of Dinosaurs and ran like bitches before getting eaten without a fight. Horrible team. The made up action figure Dino Raiders were far more badass. |

I was just reading that the entire inGen plot wasn't even present in the book. It was about Dodgson and the rival corporation trying to steal material from the site, while Hammond's team was there. I'm not sure if it was to stop them or not.
Either way it sounds like a better idea, and one that should still be re-worked for any potential sequel. |

They really tried their hardest to get the Spinosaurus over. They had it squash T Rex like it was nothing. That was a pretty big risk. Spino was cool, but come on.
Also, they hyped up using the Carnosaurus forever, and when they did it scoped out a pile of shit and walked away. That thing would have been so much more badass than the Spino |

Here's a dreadful thought but anyone think since it's the trend as of late that they'll try to shoehorn this in as some sort of prequel or tweener adventure?

Raptors in the long grass was one of the most badass scenes of Lost World. I actually would like to watch that movie right now, but I don't have it on DVD. Might have to pop out the VHS.
