Are you serious? Colts were terrible Manning's rookie year so that disqualifies him from the first three and the sixth, as well as pretty much crippling him in the rest. Only one you can even kinda put on Manning is the last, but even then given the Colts usual regular season dominance most of their playoff games were home games anyway.
If you wanna compare Flacco to Manning pull up some actual fucking stats instead of trying to cite retarded records Edit: Nice edit to actually include stats |

Flacco has more playoff wins in 3 years than Manning did in 6. Outside of the Super Bowl year, Manning has been outed in their first game in the playoffs 7 of the other 10 years. Also, as you pointed out, most of those losses were at home (4 times). Flacco has done all of work on the road in the playoffs. Peyton Manning's record is 2-5 on the road in the playoffs.

The 49ers are definitely NOT a lock to win their division. At any time there is the potential for them to lose like 5 games in a row and fuck themselves hard.

For the first two years: 50.8 and 39.4 ratings? Fucking disgusting. 145.6 YPG and 111.5 YPG? Horrible. 1 TD and 6 INT? Ryan Leaf like. He definitely did step it up the 3rd year, but to argue his greatness merely because he was QB at the time the Ravens D was winning the games? Come on bro |

I'll give you regular season stats First few things I notice are how comparable they are in completion % and QB rating, and also how many more INTs Manning has thrown..obviously peyton's got the yards and TDs...

Manning had:
More yards each season More TDs each season Higher rating 2/3 seasons Higher YPA 2/3 seasons Was also league leader in completions, yards and TDs in 2000. Leader in attempts 1998. Flacco has: Higher percentage each season Fewer INTs each season |

Flacco is the beneficiary of a team with a great defense. He's good when his defense is.

So in 2004 when the colts lost to the Pats in the AFC championship, Mannings 304 yards meant what exactly..he threw 10 times as many yards..and they lost..ooh
I'll take my QB throwing for 34 yards and a win in NE over 300 yards and a loss every time..its exactly how I feel about the Jets game last sunday night too. |

You keep trying to give Flacco credit for the Ravens playoff wins even when he obviously has nothing to do with it.
You post these records for playoff wins during his rookie and sophomore seasons, but then back it up with stats that show he played like absolute garbage? You said HE beat the Pats, despite throwing for just 34 yards and an INT? Uh, no. It was clearly Rice and McGahee with their 200+ yards and 3 TDs. We're not just talking about wins, like you're now trying to pretend we are. We're talking about these two QBs effect on wins and you've only shown that for the most part Flacco has had nothing to do with them |

actually, just noticed you were conveniently ignoring a bunch obvious information/common sense/logic and were using specific instances and misleading statements as your examples. Can you not keep the "being utterly ridiculous" exclusively in the discussion forum?

I love Joe Flacco, but he's not better than Peyton Manning. Could he be? It's possible. Unlikely, but surely possible.
He's always had a very good-great defense to support him/keep him in games. Peyton Manning has not and he still puts up ridiculous numbers & wins. Yes, you could argue he's always had good-great targets (as Flacco has not, really), but he still has not always had the defensive support Flacco has. |

And I love Trent Dilfer, but I certainly don't credit the success of the 2000 Ravens to him. Some of it, yes. He obviously deserves it for not throwing that many interceptions. But to say he won the Ravens a championship would be silly.
Just like saying Flacco > Manning is silly. Or that Flacco's success is solely because of how good he is. He is very good, but can't always win by himself the way Peyton can. |

Miami up'ed the ante on the Suck for Luck campaign. Henne has been put down for the season and they are ' threatening ' to bring in Trent Edwards.

Flacco was called a crap QB. Crap QBs dont have 36 wins in their first 3 years in the league. Kyle fucking Boller had the same god damned defense for 3 years and he didn't win shit with it. Kyle Boller is a crap QB. So you can't fucking tell me for a second that Flacco's 36 wins, 4 of which were on the road in the playoffs, were all because he was lucky to have the Ravens defense. If that was the case boller would be on his way to the fucking hall of fame by now.

My Betting Picks Week 5 (Last Week 12-4 ATS, Season 26-34-4 ATS, 1-2 Locks)
Titans +3.5 @ Steelers [Titans are suddenly a playoff contender and the Steelers are looking like a MASH unit. Gimped up Roethlisberger, battered offensive line, potentially no Mendenhall, Harrison out..I think this is the Titans personal litmus test for themselves and they'll pass it with a win.] Chiefs +2 @ Colts [Colts off the short week loss and disapointment, Chiefs off their first win and excitement. Take the momentum, energy and the points] Cardinals +2.5 @ Vikings [Similar to Chiefs/Vikings though the Cardinals arent coming off a win] Bengals +2.5 @ Jaguars [Similar to the first two again, and for what its worth I like the Cincy defense at least..] Bills +2.5 vs Eagles [I dont understand how an imploding Eagles team is a favorite on the road vs a team that was close to being 4-0, even if it was vs the Bengals. I see this as a similar situation to the game after the Ravens lost to the Titans, they will come back refocused and ready to throttle the Eagles who are in a complete tailspin.] Raiders +5.5 @ Texans [Texans are on a roll but one vulnerability they have is rush defense, they've given up yards to some suspect players and McFadden is the best RB they will have faced...plus no Andre Johnson for the Texans..EDIT Also a win for Al Davis..] Panthers +6.5 vs Saints [I don't see the Panthers winning, but once again I think Cam Newton can keep the Panthers in the game just enough to not lose by a TD, especially since I wasn't impressed with the Saints defense last week in what should have been an easy game.] Giants -9.5 vs Seahawks [Lot of points to give up but the Giants are at home and its the Seahawks..Don't know what else to say.] Buccaneers +2.5 @ 49ers [People are probably going to be on the 49ers after their upset win in Philly but I think that the Buccaneers are a better team overall, though a win on the west coast will be tough for Tampa (6 wins in 32 west coast games all time) Patriots -9 vs Jets [The Jets seem to be imploding just like the Eagles and I think the last team the Jets wanted to see this weekend was the Patriots...lot of points but Im pretty sure Tom Brady's good for em] Broncos +4 vs Chargers [The Chargers usually start off slow, this year they've been able to win while doing it but its been an illusion..smoke and mirrors (OOOOOOH) anyway..No one wants to bet on the Broncos after they were throttled by the Packers, but I say they'll show up and give the Chargers a fight in a divisional game at home] Falcons +6 vs Packers [People are gonna call me crazy. How can you bet against the Packers?? Matt Ryan is 16-6 ATS at home in his career. The Packers secondary isn't solid and I think Ryan can easily go toe to toe with Rodgers since he has just as many weapons to throw to. The Falcons also kind of need this game big time or else they risk being in trouble given how the Saints and Bucs are playing. I'm also pretty crazy to say the Falcons will win outright.. Im probably just plain insane to make this my Lock of the Week (1-2)] Bears +5 @ Lions [The Lions have won 12 games in a row (4 last year, 4 preseason, 4 this year), the world must be upside down! I watched their comeback last week and was amazed at how they did it. But the wheels have to come off the cart at some point, and I think the Bears, who need a win to stay in playoff contention already, would like nothing more than to end the Lions dream season in Detroit in front of a national tv audience..and they'll do it by running the football with Forte and special teams.] 5-7-1 ATS Last edited by Droford; 10-15-2011 at 08:53 PM. |
