I think these reboots are shit and that general audiences have less patience for them than say Kalyx, but they would at least be bearable if we didn't have to go over the characters origins every time. Like in the Incredibles (who were original characters) they didn't spend half the movie going over each characters origin, it was covered in like five minutes of newsreel footage, yet every eight years we have to spend a third of a movie watching Spider-man get bitten by a fucking spider and see his uncle die.

How come this comic book movie sequel / reboot is "effing horrible" but every other one seems to be "beloved"... genuinely curious... is the movie actually really horrible or are a lot of people jumping on the "this movie sucks" meme train...

Everything I've read (including a tweet by the director himself that was quickly deleted) says it's just a bad movie. Poorly paced, badly edited, horribly written. The initial trailers were all pretty bad, so I've been avoiding it, but it sounds like the critics and the fans agree that this is just a bad movie that had potential to be a good one, except they made a wrong step each time they had to make a decision (although I, for one, really like all the actors they cast).

Can't remember the name of the other film was but seems like this is the second time in recent months that the "public won't see my version of the film" excuse has been used for a bad film.
Whole film series itself has struggled trying to be popular with the public. Biggest problem seems to be nobody knows how to adapt the comics into a good enough film without something screwing up big time. |

This one had bad mojo before it was ever released. Lots of rumors on-set DRAMA, FOX refused to release promo shots or images until a few months before the film was released (we've already seen photos/trailers for superhero films coming out next year by comparison...including Fox's Deadpool). From what I've read the beginning of the movie is kind of good, then the middle part is badly written and super boring and then the big finale and fight with the bad guy is ten-minutes long and has bad CGI. |

It seems odd to me with comic books that there's lots of source material for new original movies in every franchise and yet they seem to want to just go back and start from the beginning every kind of like..cycle.

Yeah, that one was thrown together at the 11th hour to keep the license. This one was made for 111 million dollars. Not that much in today's standards so they might make alot of that back.
There's already a sequel scheduled. Well... probably not anymore. |

Fox is confirming, all of a sudden, that this is NOT in the same universe as X-Men. A few weeks ago everybody at Fox was giggly about a potential merging, not now. There will not be a sequel, I'm thinking.
Too bad, it was mostly well cast and the director's legit. |

The cast blows imo and I'm not even talking about black Johnny Storm.

I'm still gonna see it. Been a life-long Marvel fan, and for the most part love all their movies (I liked the 2005 and 2007 FF movies).

Those movies weren't even that bad. Doom and Susan were bad, but Johnny, The Thing, and Silver Surfer were great.
Not saying they were great but they get shit on more than they deserve. |

Definitely. Obviously they're nowhere near as good as Avengers, Dark Knight etc... but they're not awful. I didn't even mind Galactus seeing as I think a giant man with a purple helmet with hook sticking out of it would have looked ridiculous. But nah those films are alright for what they are.
Seeing this film in about two hours, I'm still excited. I'll make my own judgments of it. |

Well, I'm back. I thought it was alright. Nothing amazing, but nowhere near as bad as the universal panning it's getting makes it out to be. The CGI is pretty basic, and Human Torch does look fairly naff, but overall I enjoyed it. "Dr. Doom" was a fucking monster, and I somewhat understand his reasons for being how he is, but the fight at the end is overall pretty lackluster.
I wouldn't be against a sequel, but please please please no more Dr. Doom. Let's get a different villain! If I had to compare it to the original two movies, I'd probably go with the first two because the chemistry between the cast ie. the banter between the characters was a lot more fun. But this film is like the Amazing Spider-Man was to the Sam Raimi movies, same story, but told completely differently. |

Lmao never knew those panels existed.
Think the original F4 gets crapped on because they were purposely mediocre movies made to appeal to young children in an attempt to shill merchandise, and it worked. Never saw Silver Surfer but the first one wasn't God awful. It was an at least competent movie. |

I still feel we should get the Molemen or Skrulls. Hollywood can't do a villain as dynamic as Doom.

I think Hollywood has a pretty good track record of dynamic villains. Only for about the last century or so, but it has been done.
