Fantastic movie. Great casting and beautiful visually - nicely done reboot to basically allow them to do whatever they like in future films.
Wonderful how they still managed to get some product placement into it despite being set in the 23rd Century though. |

Well they are. Bashing a reboot because it has a lot of action and young people. Come on.

Saw this a few days ago now. 'twas great. Personally I loved the Beastie Boys thing as well asd the swollen hands thing. If you sayyou didn't, you're just being overly critical for the sake of being critical.

I think they could possible base a new series on the events that happen to Romulus, in the movie, and its effects on the alpha quadrant. [/geek]

They did alot of ground fights in DS9. Nothing epic sized or anything like that, but there was a few.

Fucking A I marked out so many times just tonight watching it. Like when Sulu mentioned he'd done fencing I immediately remembered the Naked Time episode where he was galavanting around the ship and pricked his finger on the sword Anyway yeah, awesome stuff, I'll probably see it again with the family on wednesday |

I know nothing about Star Trek other than it's reference in pop culture, but I went to see this anyway because the trailers all look great. I thought the movie was excellent. Great writing and great casting. I thought Chris Pine was your typical meat head pretty boy actor but I was pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong.
Did anyone else find the added light glare to be a bit over the top? It was a neat effect and made the film seem less green screeny but I think they went too far with it. |

I just saw it - bloody loved it
I don't know who most of the actors were but I thought the casting was spot on. The bloke who played Dr McCoy nailed it - although I thought Checkov was a bit over the top. Still a great bloody movie. |

It's so refreshing to have a group of people that actually know what goes into making a good action movie and not just blowing stuff up Michael Bay style. There actually has to be good writing.
"You know, traveling through time, changing history... that's cheating." That's brilliant. |

Yeah I just noticed the other day that he was in LOTR, knew I'd recognised him from somewhere.
Also if you watch the original Trek series and the 4th movie in particular you'll realise Chekhov actually really wasn't overdone NUCLEAR WESSELS |

My father told me he was funny in the series too.
I also loved the 'test' scene, where Kirk was just eating the apple and not giving a shit. |

Yeah that was one of the biggest nods to the original film series for sure, I think they way they've done the reboot whilst preserving what went before was really well done. Woulda been very easy for Abrams to simply say 'fuck it' and just start from scratch with no attempt at making the new film compatible with what went before.
