Chris Benoit defends his World Heavyweight title against Triple H in an iron man match on RAW. I was scared to death because I didn't want Benoit to lose the match.

Wrestling was banned in my house for a week or so after we witnessed this match. A new ban on wrestling was instated after Edge speared Foley through a table lit on fire.

I am upset that Santino has had such a long United States title reign.

why would you possibly be upset about such a thing?

He is a comedy act and barely wins. He doesn't elevate or give importance to the title. Unlike Codswell Rhodes who made the Intercontinental title mean something again.

Three times against Swagger, though Ziggler was also involved in one of those matches, and once against Otunga. He hasn't defended it since June, but SummerSlam will change that. I hope Cesaro wins. I like him. |

I can't say I mind Santino as champion since Santino is pretty great and capable of being pretty badass in the ring. I do hate the fact that they put no effort into actually using his MMA background or something to make him seem like he's a threat to any challengers to the title despite his silly character. Instead they're content in making it seem like he's a champ simply because the company has forgotten to have him defend it against anyone noteworthy. |

so? the midcard titles haven't really meant anything for ages except when they wanna get behind somebody a bit. And it takes one guy to beat him convincingly and put a bit of life back into the belt for it to "mean something" again. Pro wrestling is a work, the "values" of things change all the time with however they're feeling this month. Not to mention it just doesn't matter and that Santino is more over than most of the roster

I think house show title defenses are the reason that they aren't gonna get rid of the two world title system. The ability to have a "world title" match on both Raw and Smackdown brand house shows. I think there are ways around that though. It's not worth having two world titles to water down "being on top".

by "nobody", I take it you mean whiny fans on the internet as opposed to the people actually in attendance at the show who are probably quite happy to see title matches

I like that we have Santino and Cesaro somewhat fighting over the title and that it's lead to a title match at SummerSlam. In my perfect world, there would be more of a reason for them having the match other than what we have right now, which is "Cesaro has beaten Santino twice so he's got a title shot". It's good and basic and it does make sense, and I think the placement on the card as the pre-show is the right place for the match, as I don't think there is that much interest in it. If there was a strong rivalry between the two guys, with them gaining victories over each other for about two months, then I'm sure it would be on the actual card on Sunday. I would love to see Cesaro win on Sunday and bring back the European Championship in place of the United States Championship, but the title history would remain as him holding the US Title and not the European. It would gain him so much heat, along with him speaking all the European languages before his matches and him having the old fashioned and clichéd "I'm not from America, so I'm better than you" attitude. Personally, I think it would be an interesting angle and it could introduce us to a somewhat more serious Santino, who could very well use his MMA background and surprise his opponents and the fans during his matches by using it. |

I love the idea of Cesaro calling the US title "the European title" if he wins it. Plastering the flag of a different European country over the stars and stripes on it every time he's seen with it. That would be money. And whoever took the belt off of him would just be that much more over for doing it.

Personally, I think the guy is brilliant at what he does. Even if he is put in shitty, ridiculously corny comedy segments the man performs the hell out of them. They certainly don't fail because of him.

Santino is pretty great with his comedic role and does have the crowd interested in his matches especially for the Cobra spot. Only issue is him being a champion neither has helped nor hurt him to the point there is no real reason why he's the US champ.
Same for when Swagger was the US champ before since that didn't help him at all but for Ryder, it was huge because his buildup against Ziggler was for that special moment to become the champion. Assuming the rumors of the WWE feelings towards Ceasrio is true, most likely Santino's reign ends this Sunday. |

Santino should beat Cesaro via the cobra and then start an angle where Cesaro claims Santino had a steel tip in the cobra glove and should be stripped of the title. That just came to mind for some reason.
