Lo - Well, Jay is the host of the show, so he really has no reason to complain. Haha. But anyhow, I do somewhat agree with your last statement. We're on here defending these guys like they are members of our famlies or something. Sure, you watch em' for so long, it may feel like you know em', but you really don't. And while I am sure they'd be grateful for having fans who defend them, but I think points have been clearly made on every side. |

I don't understand your man love for Leno Zeeboe, he's just some late night douche who doesn't care about you.
At least Conan relates with the demographic that posts here, and is a dude's dude. Leno's just some old fuck who wants a paycheck. |

So you must watch a lot of Jay Leno, and read his bio, and his other books to come to that conclusion. Is this correct?

I like Leno more than Connan, but Leno seems like a complete dick outside his show.

Jay also admitted on his Oprah interview that he told a "white lie" when he said he was retiring. He always knew he would be back on TV somewhere, whether it was another network or whatever. |

In the Oprah interview he makes it clear to her that he knew all along he had every intention of doing another show. Not just stay in show business.

Why do you think he was afraid to let Rosie O'Donnell guest host one day a week or one day a month when his predecessor allowed guest hosts frequently? Do you think it was because someone might think she was better than him (she did end up getting her own talk show)?

I don't like how Guest Hosts are basically dead. While I was very young during Carson era, I watch a lot of his old stuff. And seeing Joey Bishop or Garry Shandling hosting was great.
But The Larry Sanders Show brought up some good points with it I though. Nobody could fuck with Carson, that's obvious. But with someone like Leno, it's easier to see him being replaced. Larry Sanders would book guest hosts occasionally, but would always be worried about someone being to good, getting to good of ratings. |

And in regards of Rosie O'Donell......I mean, come on....what has seen done that's so great? She has an infamous rep for being one of the annoying celebs. I loved her in "A League of their Own", but that's about it, and I think she should stick with acting, and not comedy. It seems that most of Jay's enemies are never-was's and unknown's. Not even the has-been's have issues with Jay. Again, this is just a dark chapter that will be a memory in due time, and I truly believe Jay will overcome like always. And Howard Stern, well, Howard's Howard Meaning he can pretty much say and do almost anything, and I won't insult him for it, or take it personal cause Stern is awesome like that. |

We're talking about before Rosie became "infamous." You're forgetting that her show was very successful for several years. I think it might have competed with Oprah in some markets (not for sure on that though).

Looks like NBC is even more dumber than people expected. They decide to "tone" down their primetime block to fit Leno's show and I assume their vision for late night NBC tv but backfired badly.
a repeat of a repeat episode from Law & Order out-rates whatever Leno did during his 10pm show run. |

If he follows the talk show format on tour this could be one of the most innovative things to happen to comedy in a long time.

Jay Leno's return apparently got a pretty good ratings for normal standards, but was nowhere near as high as Conan's debut last year. Makes sense, as it's not Leno's debut, but a return for him. But is this the huge victory NBC were looking for?

God I would love if Leno's ratings just plummeted like they did when he was on at 10. But I'm sure they'll reach record highs and NBC will be all "WE WIN".

I bet it's because people fell asleep between the prime time dramas and local news and woke up when Jimmy Fallon started saying stuff that was actually funny.

I just watched Leno's monologue from his first show back. I honestly can not see how anyone can watch that and find it funny. I just can't fathom how that can make someone laugh. Like... this is not me just rubbing it in. I'm simply stating that no matter how I stretch my imagination to try to relate to other's sense of humor, I cannot see how that works. It's the most lazy, uncreative comedy writing I have ever seen in my life.

It's like when everyone laughs at that one guy that always tells jokes and you're like wtf? He's not that funny. But they all seem to laugh for some reason.

Speaking of old, I've watched some of Dave, and his show has an old people vibe to it. The color, the lighting, etc. Him and Jimmy Fallon also have nothing but never was-'s, unknowns, and has-been's on their shows.
Nothing against those has-been's, and I'm not gonna name any names, but yeah, as much as I love those guys and their work, and would enjoy watching an interview with them, most of those guys have not been in any hits in ages. How old they are means nothing to me. It's rather they've been in a recent project that actually was good, and went over well. Again, nothing personal, and I would love to hear them talk about what they are doing now, and/or telling old stories, but from a business point of view, it's better to have stars that are bringing in the big bucks. Jay's show has a young vibe to it, and he actually has all the top entertainers. I'm glad Jay is back, and I believe he will do very well. |

lol There's like 5 talk shows at night and only 2 in the prime slots; Letterman and Leno. Where do you think they are going to go if they want publicity and to advertise their shit? Not every big name is going to go on Fallon or Ferguson but they still get good people. And what are you going to do? Get only Hellen Mirren and Christian Bale and Johnny Depp? These people rarely do talk shows because they don't really need to.
I agree Letterman has an oldish vibe and I don't find him really enjoyable. Leno has that general all-purpose comedy that everyone should be able to get and plays it safe but is nothing special or amazing. Ferguson is pretty funny actually but I hate his set and the vibe of his show. It seems like they are doing it from a basement of a CBS building or something. I find Fallon bringing unique stuff and trying to bring a level of excitement to late night talk shows. But Conan was the best. Unless it's some really hot girl or a favorite actor/athlete of mine is on I don't really care to watch talk shows but with Conan you want to watch even if it's some old lady or some news guy. |

Is this a recent addition to Jay's repertoire? It seems like the kind of thing Conan would have done, except not funny. |
