My favorite Royal Rumble was...

With all this talk about favorite Wrestlemanias, what is your favorite Royal Rumble? My personal favorite was Royal Rumble 1995. Great matches JJ vs Razor, Undertaker vs IRS and his "Druids", and the Royal Rumble itself was awsome. I love the fact that the final wrestlers in were Crush, Lex, the British Bulldog, and HBK. Yet with all that size and power, HBK does the impossible and wins after being the 1st entry.

Honorable mention for 1999, which I enjoyed the main storyline of immensely, but aside from Austin/Vince, the match was pretty inconsequential

Royal Rumble 02 when Goldust, Mr. Perfect, Val Venis and I think maybe the Godfather returned. Always a fan of returns. And these were hyped returns.

I loved this years because of a lot of things. First of all it started with two midcarders for a change, and felt realistic.
The psychology in the match was awesome.
The whole CM Punk on the microphone thing was great, and him running the table until HHH came down.
The Shawn Michaels story was great.
The Edge return was great.
The final four was great, because all 4 legitimately could have won. It was pretty unpredictable. Edge eliminating Cena was quite a mark out moment.

The whole thing was extremely well done top to bottom. The only ones I think surpass it are 1992 and 2001, which were the best of their respective eras.

1992 Royal Rumble-First time anything had been done like that on maintstream wrestling where the title was decided by a battle royal and plus Flair in WWF at the time and it was the first time that Hogan wasn't over in years to win predictably.

1995 also makes an honorable mention in my book, first time anyone went from #1 to win the Royal Rumble when you least expected it and it was Shawn Michaels, who even as heel, had been my favorite wrestler for several years at that point since 1991.

1995 was an alright Rumble, there was virtually no star power in it (HBK, British Bulldog, Owen Hart, Mabel was a star during this year, Lex Luger, Fatu (but he wasn't a star yet) maybe that's why I am not that big a fan of it, but the uncercard had some good matches with Bret/Disel and Razor/Jeff. My personal favorite is between 2004 for the Rumble match, 2008, 2000, 1992, and 2001/02 tied, because both were very solid. I also greatly enjoyed 2010 (CM Punk was great, Beth Phoenix was in it who is my favorite female in the business currently along with Sara Del Rey and Alissa Flash/Cheerleader Melissa, the final three were the same from 2005 and I like when things repeat themselves like that and it was star studded.

Probably 2004. 1992 is also really, really good...but 2004 gets the edge for me because I knew all of the storylines going in, and knowing the ongoing feuds/storylines/etc. can really help make a Rumble more enjoyable.

Here's what I liked:

-Benoit going all the way from #1 was awesome
-Orton having a really good showing
-Mick Foley taking out Test and stealing his spot in the Rumble, just for the purposes of eliminating Randy
-Kane cleaning house in the ring only for the lights to go off and the bell to toll. Crowd marked out, Kane got eliminated, and it wound up being Spike Dudley. First hints of the return of Old School Undertaker
-The Cat dancing around in the ring while Benoit and Orton were down
-Nunzio hiding outside of the ring until Cena threw him in
-Lesnar running in to F-5 Goldberg and lead to his elimination
-The whole ending sequence felt like the IWC's dream: Benoit, Jericho, Angle, RVD, and 2004-era Cena ganging up on Big Show, everybody hitting finishers on him
-Show eliminating everybody, leading up to the awesome Benoit elimination for the win

Awesome Rumble. Wound up planting the seeds for so many Mania matches as well (Benoit's title match, Kane/Taker, Lesnar/Goldberg, Orton/Foley tag match, etc.)

Actually Bret and Lex Luger.

...still, my favorite one has to be the 1995 Royal Rumble. It was the first time I ever saw a Royal Rumble and the fact that HBK hung onto the ropes, never let his feet touch the floor, and then came back and eliminated The British Bulldog (who thought he'd eliminated Shawn), made it memorable.

Power Hour with the RR is this: A shot of beer for every wrestler that enters, and a shot of beer for every person thrown out... Sounds easier than it really is... 30 shots for entrants and 29 shots for over the top rope... That's about 7/8 beers per RR...

If you are watching the most current RR, then you pick your winners before hand and if your guy wins, the reward is everyone else chugs what is left of their last beer...

Now if you want it to get interesting, you watch an older RR... Say 2000... The same rules above apply except if there is a wrestler who enters that is deceased, you pay respect to the deceased by drinking two shots of beer for that wrestler... (i.e. in 2000, Big Boss Man, Test, British Bulldog, & Crash Holly = 2 shots a piece... RIP)

Believe me it starts to add up... And you can get fucked up pretty quick... And for the few idiots thinking it... NO, you don't play this with liquor...

I enjoyed 1999 at the time and it's not bad at all but it was the Vince - Austin show.

2001/2002 and 2004 are my favourites. 2004 for sentimental reasons really. 2001 was just incredible though. Not just the rumble, Benoit - Jericho ladder match

92 FTW Heenan + Flair = Fried Gold

Though 97 with Austin's first win is a close second. The image of Austin sitting on the buckle and looking at his watch, waiting for the next guy to come out, might be my favorite Royal Rumble image of all time.

Also, this one from 93:

def. the Royal Rumble from 1992

Flair wins the title and Heenan on commentary is pure gold

Royal Rumble from 1991 is fairly decent as well

1992, 1999 and 2000

i'm biased towards 1992 and 1999 since they were my all-time favorite eras in wrestling (1992 being my all-time favorite)

Though 97 with Austin's first win is a close second. The image of Austin sitting on the buckle and looking at his watch, waiting for the next guy to come out, might be my favorite Royal Rumble image of all time.

Also, this one from 93:
I used to own that game

ORANGE-LOCKE does not have that much rep yet (10+)
RR '99 for me..Continued the storyline from another one of the "Big 5", Survivor Series, and the fact that the WWF was really starting to pound WCW into submission...Also the birth of Vince McMahon's Entrance Theme.....

Also, i did enjoy, RR 2000, when The Rock hit HHH in the head with a chair during his WWF Title match with Mick..kind of ironic since he bashed Mick's head in the year before...

Still waiting for another Royal Rumble to be for the title. Given the fact that there are now two world titles, and there is a new gimmick to determine Wrestlemania's main event (Elimination Chamber), I see no reason why it can't be done again.

I liked 1989 and 1991. 91 because it was the first event I ever saw. 89 because you can see the Royal Rumble pretty much in it's infancy. Not sure on my best overall though. Hard call.

What was that one where Steve Blackman brought a bin full of weapons in the ring with him? I liked that one.

My favourite Rumble would be 1992. One of the greatest star-studded rumbles ever. Also Gorilla and Heenans commentary made it.

My favourite Rumble moment has to be
