Yeah but it's stupid and arbitrary. Are we to assume the Authority are just sitting backstage picking people because they can do flippy stuff?

There are always going to be spot guys in MITB...but revealing it as they did is lazy. Still not sure what rationale they'd have to put Reigns or Orton in, for instance. The Authority hates both of them yet they're putting them in a position where one of them could get the briefcase and cash in on their golden boy. At least with qualifying matches it makes sense.

With that same reasoning, why would they put Orton or Reigns in a qualifying match? Hell, why not just stack the entire match with heels who won't cash in while Rollins is the champion? That would make sense in kayfabe, but it doesn't make for a good story.

Naomi has landed that move before and it has been sick, but since she botched it they are probly going to "ban" it now

Main event was boring I thought until the very end... just thought "wtf" when it ended because I don't think there's ever been a match when a ref gets knocked out "for no reason"

Guess I'm in the minority, but I wasn't impressed with the event as a whole. Payback & Extreme Rules felt more complete to me. It just seemed like all of the matches were sloppy & put together in 2 minutes. Even Cena/Owens seemed rather slow & anti-climatic at times. Some of the booking decisions were questionable. I thought I was watching Russo-era WCW. I was waiting for Arquette to show up & win the world title.

At least you can sell the qualifying matches in a different way. The Authority can agree to let them try to qualify because they are "fair" but in actuality they can make them both go up against steep competition to earn their way in. At least that creates some semblance of a story as opposed to just throwing people in with no explanation because they've left themselves with 2 weeks between PPVs.

And supposedly there are going to be more than 6 participants in the match anyway. Will the rest have to qualify? If so, why did the men selected get an immediate bypass into the match but not the others? I know WWE is aware that its casual audience won't question it but it feels like a bit of a plot hole to me.

Re watched Cena/Owens again. I think Lynch/Banks may have been a better match from a technical or "pure wrestling" match, but Cena/Owens keeps better on successive rewatches and edges it out when you take the story and drama into account. It's close; close enough that personal preference between technical wrestling versus drama will tip the scales one way or the other on which match is better.

This is what I've been saying. I said it when he won the title. He's not credible as champion (especially after we just had one of the more credible champions ever bringing the title's prestige back up to a whole new level). Outside of my personal thoughts on Rollins not having the larger than life character to be on top, he hasn't been booked as remotely credible. They made so much progress with Lesnar's reign in making the title look like something to covet and now they've gone backwards.

It doesn't help that John Cena is way more over and way more credible and holding a secondary title, thus making it seem like the World and US titles are practically interchangeable.

I really enjoy Seth's gimmick. The turn and alignment with The Authority was about as deep as you get in professional wrestling. I agree with all your other points though. Cena has made the US Title feel as important. The champion makes the championship.

2 weeks between PPVS is good, allows for only 10 hours of TV time to fill with story between each chapter instead of 35.

I'm not mad about it. Just trying to quell some of this aggression from people.

You can do all the qualifying matches you want, but the match will be the same regardless. Might as well just tell us the competitors up front and let them all try and look credible on the way.

It's not worth sulking about but it still makes very little sense when you analyze it in any sort of detail. The Authority clearly didn't want Reigns in MITB based on what they did Monday...so why the fuck enter him in the first place?

At least if he's not in and they go all "well we'll be fair and give you a chance to qualify.....LOL AGAINST 3 OPPONENTS" only for it to blow up in their face it just makes for a more sensible story/makes Reigns an overcome-the-odds Superman that WWE are clearly trying to make him.

If the writing was creative, you could stretch a story out that long fine. There used to be 3 months between PPVs and the hype was a million times better.

Now we get a Cena-Owens feud, a huge upset and the rematch all within a month. It's just gonna force less creativity when they run through all the feuds at a rapid pace and characters become more stale because they're peaking and falling so quickly.

If this 2 week PPV schedule is going to be a thing I would like to see alternate PPVs being used for storylines so people get their moments but stories also develop somewhat. As it is now nothing is getting much focus aside from the WWE title and Owens/Cena.
