Would a serial killer game work?
An open world adventure where u play a sick serial killer. U stalk people on the streets, then pull them away/kidnap them and either kill them or torture them. Then u have to hide the bodies/evidence so the police dont catch u.
U can even have a multiplayer mode where one guy plays police and one guy plays the murderer but doesnt know who it is because the player model is a civillian. What do u think? |

Yeah, it'd draw the double standard that's a given in gaming.

Postal and Manhunt already did something similar to this before although without the kidnapping part.

I couldn't even play through Hitman cause I felt sick playing as a "murderer", even though he is killing bad guys. So, I dont think thered be much of a market for this game.

A game like this COULD be done, and done quite well... hell, Dexter would be a great way to implement this (kinda like Telltale's Walking Dead, it could be cannon, but set as it's own season). However, as has been touched on before, too many lazy ass "how'm'I gonna 'splain this to muh kids..." parents will bitch while the game is still in pre-production just from the hype and stigma. |

^ A rapist or child killer sure, but a good character like Dexter with an interesting story... why not? Is it that different from GTA? I guess it's a bit touchy to some people but it still would appeal to some gamers, hell I never got into games like Call of Duty and Modern Warfare because they seem like some pseudo army humping propaganda but they're still fun to play in demo's or at a friends house.. it won't be that marketable but it can be done very well.
I'd love a game like Dexter using the LA Noir engine. But it'll basically be a guide how to master being a serial killer so it probably won't happen, the closest thing we ever got was Manhunt |

Fuck, people bitch that they couldn't murder children in Skyrim. Also, my point was that assuming people think like you is a poor way to rule. What would really kill it is that it would end up being an AO certification. No store would stock it, no console would run it, and PC players would still manage to bitch somehow about how they were being treated unfair. |

Plus, it seemed like they went out of their way to make most of the included brats annoying as hell (see Little Lamplight or Republic of Dave), as if to rub your nose in the fact that you couldn't end their sorry asses. But I digress... yeah, the AO thing is ironically the kiss of death. It was SUPPOSED to be the stamp for games that bore no bones about being marketed to legally mature folks. Instead, it got relegated to the unreleased Thrill Kill and the first run of GTA:San Andreas. Its the NC17 of the gaming market... and that was supposed to do the same thing for movies. |

Then get Die By The Sword for PC.
It absolutely sucks, but I'm sure that doesn't matter to you since you get to beat someone with a torn off arm. |

That was the ad for Spawn on PS1. Cool.
And Thrill Kill was cool, I played a bootleg copy of it for my modded PS1 back in the day. |
