It isn't important. What is important to know is that he WILL die because wrestling is all he knows and he can't get away from it. Even in the face of death, he can't change what he's used to. And he'd rather go out as The Ram than the potato salad guy from the grocery store.

My reading of it was the same as Narc's. I don't think he died right there having jumped off the top rope. I thought the message was that he would die because he couldn't give it up.
