Ive said it before but...
Corrosion of Conformity is one of the best metal bands you never heard. All these new metal bands like Opeth or whatever, suck so hard, then you compare them to Corrosion and they suck so much harder.

I've started returning to the HEAVAY, after a 4 year absence or so of not really following the scene at all, and I have to say that what is being called metal and hard rock these days is complete, utter shite. Maybe I'm older, and therefore wiser, but it all seems blatantly marketed crap, which all sounds the same (though this really only applies to the more mainstream stuff, and I know this music has always been easy pickings for marketing). But anyways, I recently bought 2 Obituary albums and Entombed's "Left hand Path," all of which are 16-17 years old, and they totally piss all over the stuff that is around today. Saying that though, I do like Opeth.
COC kick ass, and even better, Down have a new album out at the end of the month. Tasty! |

I'm thinking on name alone, COC is better than most of those bands.

"In the Arms of God" is the best CD I've heard in years. Stanton Moore, who was drumming on the album, is amazing.
All in all most of what BDC said, except Opeth has some good stuff. "Damnation" and "Deliverance" is great. |

COC flirted with brilliance a few times but they've never come close to Opeth at their best.
Although comparing a generic thrash band and a prog-death-whateverthefuck band is always going to be somewhat problematic. |

Do you listen to The Black Dahlia Murder, BDC? If not, I think you should check them out.

No, but I already know they suck. They don't make good metal anymore. It is all a bunch of bullshit.

I don't listen to much metal anyway, as I think that most metal sucks (whether new or old). They just happen to be one of the few bands that I do like.
