There really wasn't a top heel before he turned. You have Del Rio, but he is already the World Heavyweight Champion. Brock is in another category since he is never around. Who else is there? Turning Orton gives you that missing top heel. Another point, if he is a Corporate Champ, he might start wearing pants. |

Seriously, outside of Cena and Punk, guys really need to get away from the tshirt over their trunks look. It looks like they're all 12 year old girls at a sleep over.

Great podcast guys. Really enjoyed the individual breakdowns of the Summerslam ending. Forgot who said it, but I agreed the most with the one that said: They know what they're doing, but everything has to go perfectly or it will all be fucked...
Keep this up guys. It's good shit. |

Whoever said that thing about Daniel Bryan not finding anyone to fight the corporation, but here comes JOHN CENA.... that is such a fucking bleak way to look at things.
A bleak way to look at things that's probably going to happen. |

My answer would have required different booking for the last two years, but - had they not completely neutered him - Wade Barrett would be perfect in this role. He's got the "superstar look," the "superstar build," and he's never been there before. He could have been the "reformed" rebel that HHH took under his wing. He sees himself in Wade, a guy who literally started at the bottom of the roster, played the game, took his lumps, but proved himself both as a rebellious leader of men and as a "company guy." HHH could brag that the first English WWE Champion would be great for business internationally, as well. |

Realistically, Orton is probably the best guy for the role given the current roster. With that said though, he lacks something. He's easy to hate in this role, but he doesn't scream "corporate." Mainly because I can't picture Randy putting on the suit and doing all the stuff a "corporate" champ in this day and age would do.
This is why I love the idea of it being Cena... A guy who doesn't have to change. He is the face of the company, he does all the PR stuff, he busts his ass for the company. Cena "cares" about the business. I don't buy Orton as caring about the business, only himself. So with that in mind, I think the only guy on the roster I could see better filling the role, oddly enough, would be The Miz. His face turn has, no one cares about him, yet he is the guy that throws on the suit and goes to all the premiers, etc. If you cut off the "edge" he had as a heel before, and make him a blatant corporate tool, it'd work. Plus, The Miz would need the "corporation" backing him more than someone like Orton. It's more of a symbiotic relationship. The Miz needs them, and they need the Miz. With Orton, I get the feeling they need him, but he doesn't need them. |

Orton does need them though because they want him to be the corporate champion and therefore as long as they're on his side, they will do whatever it takes to keep him as the corporate champion. It's beneficial to both parties and all the heels can still be selfish dicks looking out for themselves and their business.

The Miz doesn't belong anywhere near the main event right now, let alone in a dominant top heel role.

That's the nice part of it, he doesn't have to be "dominant" himself. He has HHH, Vince, Steph, and The Shield backing him. He can be obnoxious, and obviously "not good enough" to be there, but he keeps winning because of them. It's heel heat 101. Maybe 201. |

Going down the roster page, kinda slim pickings. Hernandez doesn't bring anything to the table other than one of the most contrived spots in wrestling currently with his stupid ramp dive. Only spot more contrived is Christian's jumping over the top rope to the outside to deliver a slap. King Mo probably will never wrestle for the company. Anderson annoys the fuck out of me, personally. Other than those 3, I see value for everyone on the page, even Manik/Suicide/Depressed/Moody/Content. |

Would have still released Jesse Sorensen but would have done a better job of explaining why. TNA had no desire to ever medically clear him to return to the ring and he started to care less about his management job even though he was getting paid more as part of his injury compensation. Unless Spike and/or Bellator was paying for both Tito and Rampage, would have tossed out both because realistically neither is really going to help TNA and are money drains. Probably would target more on the management side than wrestler side considering they've been the source for the majority of TNA's real problems and issues. |

Hogan, Bischoff, Tenay, Tazz, JB.
Time for a clean slate not just in terms of management but announcers also. You can change who runs things all you want but if the announcers are the same it appears to the public that nothing has changed. I'd find cheaper replacements for Tenay and Taz (That Todd Kennely guy wasn't that bad maybe him and some retiring wrestler on the cheap) . I think it's time for Tenay to go because he reminds me too much of WCW. Taz was willing to go back to WWE, so they should cut him for being a disloyal ass. If Jeremy Borash still wants to be in the behind the scenes stuff (and announcing house shows) he can stay but with a pay cut. I'm sure Bellator and Spike are fronting most of the bill for Tito and Rampage. So, I don't buy the idea that people released were cut to pay them. Panda is probably just wanting to lower their costs since the ratings aren't improving and there's no reason to have a large roster with a large payroll and still get 1.0's. |

You have to start with the Hogans and the Bischoffs. You spend so much money to bring in the two masterminds of the last time WWE had legitimate competition, and they don't move the needle at all. They're eating up payroll, giving TV time to their untalented offspring, and giving the company no payoff.
I'm assuming that the Bellator stuff is paid for by Spike. So, even though I don't think King Mo, Rampage, or Tito add anything to the show, it's not costing Panda any money, so I'll let them slide. Hernandez, Jay Bradley, and Rob Terry are just terrible. Let them go. Jessie Godderz is doing all right in this Bro-Mans team, but Robbie is the real star there, so Jessie can go, too. I'm okay with them cutting Taeler Hendrix and Crimson, but Joey Ryan and Madison Rayne still had gas in the tank. I'm indifferent to Christian York (liked him in ECW), so I guess I'm okay with him getting cut. I can't believe Jeff Hardy is still under contract after the Victory Road fiasco. He seems to be doing okay now, but if I was running TNA, he'd have been gone years ago. In summary: Hulk and Brooke Hogan, Eric and Garrett Bischoff, Hernandez, Jay Bradley, Rob Terry, Jessie Godderz, Taeler Hendrix, Crimson, and Jeff Hardy |

Yeah I saw Spike is footing the bill for King Mo, Rampage, and Tito. King Mo, you're safe...for now.
Since they're cutting pregnant knockouts, I expect Tayrn to get cut now also. |

I don't really see the Aces & Eights guys as being very necessary. The one I thought was pretty good was DOC, but he's already left. Knux is solid, but nothing special. I'd have sent Wes Brisco and Garett Bischoff back to OVW. Devon could go there as a trainer or get released. Ken Anderson is a maybe, since he apparently is one of TNA's best merch movers (well, he was a few years back).
Creatively, I think it would be the best thing to get rid of Hogan and Bischoff, as well. I'm sure they get paid a fair bit. Also, given that he is now unable to challenge for the World Heavyweight Title, they might as well move away from Sting and focus on younger talents. A heel ending Sting's TNA career would be a huge thing for that particular heel, and give an avenging babyface a good storyline. Truth be told, I think it's time that Abyss was respectfully released too. He's entertaining as Joseph Park and all that, but it just doesn't really feel right. I'm not sure how much he gets paid, but I imagine he gets a fair amount due to his tenure with the company. I'd induct him into the TNA Hall of Fame or something and maybe bring him back for special occasions. Maybe he could even replace Taz as the color commentator for the show, dropping the whole Abyss/Joseph Park thing and simply being a respected veteran who calls matches now. Jay Bradley does nothing for me. If he wants to take a cut and go to OVW and see if he can strike gold, go ahead, but I don't really think he fits the main roster. I feel the same about Gunner -- he's technically a solid performer, but there's nothing really magnetic or special about him. I'd have Bad Influence win the World Tag Team Titles from him and James Storm and then have Gunner turn on Storm in a rage. Storm beats Gunner and then we move on. Crimson and Rob Terry are two guys I wouldn't be too depressed to see go, either. Jessie Godderz getting released wouldn't be a shocking loss for the company. Robbie E. is far better than people give him credit for, but I don't think he's really essential to the company moving forward. If cuts had to be made, I'd go with him getting the chop. I'd have kept Christian York and Taeler Hendrix (treating Taeler better). The Knockouts and X-Division should really be strengthened with permanent characters that people can care about. TNA should invest in some good tag teams too. There are also some former WWE stars that could actually help out TNA with their charisma and presence -- guys who would actually fit the roster. |

I can't believe Aces & Eights has been going on for over 14 months now. The storyline has been terrible, has made no sense (a frequent requirement for TNA), and has just dragged on for way too long. These guys aren't the nWo. Hell, they haven't even been the Nexus. Just fuck off. I love Bully Ray obviously, but he doesn't need this group to be entertaining.
Brisco & Bischoff are just shit. Ortiz and the other MMA guys bring zero value to TNA and are only to promote Bellator. People who watch TNA may tune in to Bellator, but it sure as shit would never be the other way around. I used to love Mr. Anderson in WWE and before his body betrayed him I thought he was going to be huge. He's not awful by any means, but the reality is he doesn't bring anything special to the table, he's just average across the board. Perhaps I would like him more if he rolled with it and just started wrestling as "Average Goods" Ken Anderson. |

Answer for question of the week would have to be a toss-up between Frankie, Koko B Ware's parrot, and Damien, Jake 'The Snake' Roberts snake. Damien probably has the edge, because he was a fucking big snake.

I can't think of any animals that were involved as much as Damien. Right down to Earthquake murdering him in cold blood. Awesome childhood rasslin' memories. So, him.
Honorable mention goes to The British Bulldogs' dog Matilda. Also, Pepper and all of his cousins who ran around the ring shitting and pissing during the Kennel from Hell match. |

Jake Roberts snake pet "Damien" mainly because of how involved his pet was in regards to storylines and his character in general.
Do fake animals count since the Swagga Soaring Eagle was pretty good until becoming just a laughing stock once Hornswoggle got involved I think. |

I can only imagine what seeing that live must have felt like. |
