Del Rio was probably the most smoothest performer in the company. Everything he didbwas so effortless. Loved his matches with Sheamus.

I'm really just interested to find out what exactly happened.

His matches were generally good or at least passable--I really enjoyed his title match with Christian--it's just that he stopped having anything to do, so his matches essentially became "Here's a guy who's doing nothing who's going to beat X or Y who could use a win to keep their momentum."

Also he was good for killing Sin Cara Classic.

Figured something was weird. On Main Event he basically turned face speaking Spanish to the Loredo Texas crowd. He then issues a challenge to face Swagger who was booed a bit. Del Rio tapped out clean to the Patriot Lock in the match.

I know he's been wanting to retire for awhile now. Pretty shitty way to leave though. What happened?

Good wrestler, but was stuck at stage 1 when it comes to character and personality, never really evolved past his original gimmick, and he's been stale for years. They tried a number of times, have exhausted every option at this point, and so I'm glad they've called it a day.

I feel like a lot of people are putting his lack of character development on him. The guy had charisma and especially during his debut feud with Mysterio and his face turn, he showed plenty of personality. If you don't give someone shit to work with for a story and they just float around aimlessly for years, they're not gonna be interesting though. I don't care who it is.

Agree completely, that's not on him, and it's the same for a lot of guys - they'll come in with a fresh act, but it never goes beyond that one note joke. We're seeing a lot of the same thing with Wyatt right now.

I'm sorry, the idea that that is "racist" is absurd.

Also, given that people are constantly wanking about WWE's supposed inconsistencies on their anti-bullying activities, one might point out that Del Rio was fired for intimidating and then physically assaulting someone who didn't respond favorably to his demands for an apology is pretty much right in line with the anti-bullying stance. Especially given that a "social media director" is probably not the kind of person likely to whip out some mad fat self-defense moves.
