Aside from a devastating career-ending concussion and numerous surgeries when I was younger, in recent years I've had two knee replacements, two hernia operations, surgery on my right elbow, and, just a few months ago, I underwent a four-corner fusion of my right wrist that even now makes it most difficult to write or type.

I've had a great lifelong dance and I'm a survivor of many hard battles. I now face my toughest battle. With hesitation and fear, I openly declare myself in my fight against prostate cancer. In the next few days, I will undergo surgery with the hope of defeating this nemesis once and for all.
My fans have always looked upon me as a hero and I've always done my best to live up to that in and out of the ring. I beat the odds when I suffered my stroke in 2002, but it is now yet again, that I draw upon the many adults and young children I've met throughout my life who courageously fought and usually lost in their battles against this deadly disease. One year ago, I watched a brave young man named Whesley fight brain cancer to the end. If I can find even an ounce of his courage to stand unafraid and face the tough road ahead of me, I will march toward this destiny with his spirit chanting in my ear.
I make a solemn vow to all of those that once believed in me, the dead and the living, that I will wage my fearsome fight against cancer with one shield and one sword carrying my determination and my fury for life, emboldened by all the love that's kept me going this long already. Love is my weapon and I've got much of it around me all the time, for which I'm truly blessed and eternally grateful. My children, grandchildren, and my loving wife Steph have been and will constantly be at my side. I refuse to lose, I will never give in or give up, and I will win this battle or die trying.
Most important of all, I hope I can take the fight to prostate cancer. To be a leader in awareness and to set the example for men everywhere who find themselves in my very same shoes, that prostate cancer can be beaten.

My uncle died of ass cancer. This sucks. I've seen the worst of this particular disease and hope the Hitman can beat it. I want him to live long enough to bury himself.

I can relate. My mother died of breast cancer just over 12 years ago, and so, I, too have seen this disease rear its ugly head and know that it has defeated countless numbers of even the healthiest and most resilient seeming people.

I will keep my thoughts and prayers with him and his family and friends as he goes through this time of great uncertainty and tribulation.

Obviously old age is a bitch and shit happens like this to many people. I however believe that Bret Hart's mind has become so bitter that it has rotted his body. He seems to carry around so much anger and negativity in EVERY appearance that he does. He holds onto every bad thing that ever happened to him it seems. Bret talks more shit about the workers in the business than anyone I've seen. There truly isn't a bigger mark for themselves that The Hitman. I think that ever since Montreal his life took a drastic turn for the worse.

I believe that cancer can manifest itself physically through emotional duress and negativity. I think that is why Bret has found himself in this position. Hopefully he does kick out and submit cancer. If he does, I also hope he can find the light and let go of the past, otherwise he will just continue to rot away.

The Hitman is using his celebrity to bring awareness to a terrible disease. Hopefully it helps raise money to find a cure.

-- Bret Hart underwent prostate cancer surgery on 2/10 in Calgary and by all accounts, the procedure was a success. He had his prostate completely removed and doctors were confident that the cancer was contained and so he won't need any chemotherapy or radiation and should make a full recovery.

-- Hart had apparently known about having prostate cancer dating back to last summer, but had only told close family and even friends only found out days before he made the announcement on Facebook. Doctors felt that because it was a slow growing cancer, he didn't need immediate surgery and they pushed it back due to his recovery from a wrist operation that took longer than expected to rehab.
