I did want Albert to leave. It's not that I hate the Cards. I like them just fine. It just makes for a much more interesting 2012 season with free agents on a different team. But, the Angels? I am kinda worried about them because they cream the Yankees every time. This might have been the straw that's gonna make either Texas or Seattle spend the money on Fielder. I wonder though if the Cardinals will put Berkman at first now. He had a extremely good 2011.

Shit, CJ on the Angels has a #2 behind Weaver is a strong 1-2. That's why I was hoping Cashman would go after him.

I wonder how Angel fans feel now about signing a 45 year old for a 10 year contract.

MSN Sports and MLB Trade Rumors. Wilson took one less year to play for his home town.
That being said, Angels better win a World Series soon before these contracts come back to bite them in the ass. |

I think the only reason people question Pujols' age is because he was just freakishly good at such a young age.

I really thought that Hank Steinbrenner was the only person stupid enough to give a 32 year old a 10 year contract.

Cardinals fans can be disappointed but they shouldn't be angry like that forum guy. This is nowhere near as bad as LeBron. The guy won you two World Series and gave ten of the best years ever in baseball. I'll never fault a guy for taking the most money.

The period that was the calm at the beginning of the GM meetings is now being replaced by the storm. Really wonder what shoe is going to drop next...where do you guys think Fielder is going to end up....putting my money on the Cubs or Rangers

ESPN probably now will push Angels-Marlins as their "dream" World Series match for next year.
The bigger news for the Angels is with Pujols, they can now take over the LA market from the Dodgers which is something they've wanted ever since moving near LA. at that Card fan message post just trashing Pujols even though he helped a lot in giving that team 2 titles and 3 WS appearances in the time he was with the club. I could see if he left for a rival for people to be angry but he left out of the NL which ends up being good for the Cardinals. at the Astros, they leave the NL Central for the AL West and now have to deal with Pujols again. |

K-Rod is the biggest loser this offseason. He gladly took away his massive 2012 vesting option so that he could cash in as a free agent and go back to being a closer. Instead, he had to accept arbitration and will be back with the Brewers as a set up man.
Sucks for the Brewers too because now they have to pay him around $13 million. |

Well my internet is back up and running. That storm we had in the northeast had some heavy winds in it and partially knocked out my cable for most of the day.
Anyway. Pretty crazy what the Angels did today. They did in 2 days what the Cardinals couldn't do in roughly 2 years. C.J. Should have taken what he might have gotten from the Nats. But I think Buehrle signing first cost him some $. Anyway, the other big story of the day is that Yu Darvish got posted today. That auction runs until December 14. |

I was a little "weirded out" when the Cubs signed David DeJesus, I'll admit. I didn't like it.
Now, seeing that they have traded for 3B Ian Stewart, I'm really liking both deals, having DeJesus and Stewart. I'm really digging the two moves. I feel good about 'em. |

Vernon Wells should benefit greatly from hitting in front of Pujols. Maybe now he'll start to live up to his big contract.

Rays sign Matt Moore to a 5-year, $14 million deal with options that can make it an 8 year deal.
Incredible deal for the Rays. If Moore pans out he will be kicking himself in 3 years. |

Evening round up:
Yankees make it official today and bring back Steady Freddy Garcia. 1-year, $4 mil. with $1.575 mil. in incentives on games started. Notables who went under the radar during all the madness during the week: Erik Bedard and Nate McLouth to the Pirates, Lyle Overbay to the D-Backs. Should be a quiet few days up until Wednesday afternoon when the Yu Darvish bidding ends at 4:00 pm eastern. |
