I shouldn't say overrated, but his stats are only so good because he gets so many looks because his team sucks.

Kobe's not playing tonight against Portland. Wouldn't be surprised one bit if they lose tonight again.

Not that they've had much success with Kobe in the lineup at Portland.

so really he can shoot as much as he wants as long as he continues to shoot a great percentage the only other possibilty to take roys place is chris kaman since the west doesnt have a true center |

The Blazers' announce team is awful. The guy on color is not shy about being a homer

I had never heard an announcer say that he hates a player from the opposing team before

Been announcing for like 25 years, definitely approaching senility if he isn't there already. He makes the game infinitely more entertaining, and it's hilarious listening to the other Mike (Barrett) having to yank the leash every once in a while when he starts getting too excited. He also drinks heavily throughout games lol He is the man With that said, I would absolutely loathe him if I were an opposing fan. |

Word is now that the Sixers aren't going to trade anyone, because they think they are contenders in the East... For the 8th seed,
Crushing news. Truly devastating. |

It's one thing for a fan to say it, but announcers shouldn't be flat out homers and should try to be the least bit professional.

But I do agree with you that Mike Rice is way too much of a homer. Literally argues with every foul call. But I love the old man. Other Mike (Barrett) is way more down the middle, though. |

Do agree that its the worst when its a national announcer team like ESPN or TNT who just covers one player or hypes up a match-up while ignoring the rest or has no real attachment with a team except for ratings or marketing. For example, ESPN's over-coverage of Cavs vs Lakers for NBA Finals and TNT's focus on what Lebron decision is on the Dunk Contest at the cost of focusing on the current contest. |

The question is could you do it?
You couldn't get value for Bynum at this point, at least I don't think so. Though if you add Kobe for someone (say Wade) and add a 3rd team and grab another young All-Star; well, it certainly becomes plausible. Kobe is aging, and Bynum is plagued with injuries. You certainly will have to look at this conundrum at some point to stay competitive. I'm not suggesting it, I just want to make to make a point of the depth of the squad. Artest still frustrates me (as shown by an awful game tonight), and I'd still rather have Ariza at this point. That said, Odom and Gasol have played extremely well, and roll players have stepped up their games. It is conceivable that one could plug other young individuals into those spots. The future baby. |
