congrats anyhow on 40K. I don't get the Devestator/Gorilla thing, but I do agree with making SW more 'modern'. The CGI team goes through great lengths to ensure that these guys aren't shifting mass and all that(I fogot the actual term). An 18 story robot can't become a boom box, unless it's the source.

I have no problem with the transformers being updated verision in transformed form, like Starscream can be a new jet, and Bumblebee can be a new VW Beetle (not a fucking Camero, you rat bastards). But Soundwave has to be a boombox, or else being named Soundwave don't make no sence. They could have made that Shockwave.

That is a very good point. I honestly don't care about the accuracy of SOundwave as much as I hope that Starscream gets a bigger better role.

Why the fuck would they keep soundwave a boombox int he movie? Maybe if he was supposed to be a little runt, like the guy in the first movie, but this is an action movie. It just doesn't translate to screen.
It's like making bumblebee a fast muscle car, instead of a volkswagen beatle. It just makes sense for heaven's sake. Not everything has to match the children's cartoon from the 80s. |

Are you fucking high? Are you happy with the way he was portrayed in the first movie? Starscream needs to have more of a role that is befitting of the second in command of The Decepticons. I will deem TF2 a utter failure if they drop the ball with Starscream.

I liked Soundwave, I LOVED Starscream. I would rather see more of him than an 'accurate' depiciton of Soundwave. Hell, let him be a supersonic jet, or let him have surveilence advantages, just let Starscream rock shit.

Starscream is a little bitch, he should be act like a little bitch. Plus he was never second in command, Soundwave and Shockwave both had higher ranks than Starscream. Soundwave was obviously Megatron's right hand man, while Shockwave was left in control of Cybertron. Starscream was air commander at best, but sometimes he would take cues from Thundercracker and Skywarp. Last edited by BigDaddyCool; 02-03-2009 at 11:27 AM. |

What are you talking about? Starscream was a loud mouth back stabbing asshole. I mean the guy was dangerous, but in a sneaky sort of way.

Yea, I think people would rather see a jet, seeing as it can get from point A to point B in a manner other than being carried on some gangbangers shoulder. Again, they're making a movie here. It's not saturday morning cartoons for 6 year olds. |

A kalyx said, that's just his cybertronian form. His earth frm is some sort of satellite thingy. Which I'm ok with, since he still has ravage, and the awesome voice. He would have worked as a casette player 15 years ago, but this is 2009. Some changes have to be made. That combined with the reported old school portrayal of starscream is making me a fan of this already. Last edited by Fignuts; 02-02-2009 at 05:15 PM. |

I'm convinced that the fanboys of the world have gone soft. I just hope the movie has quality. The interesting nature of the robots hasn't been comprimised.
As we were talking about in the GI Joe thread, I don't know why anyone would have a problem with changes as long as the basic ideas are kept in order. So, when Transformers are new outlandish designs, rather than old outlandish designs: no harm. It's an update, and a freshening for the sake of translation to film. Let's be honest, jets and fast cars lend themselves to an action movie more than tape recorders and volkswagens. When what makes the material compelling is utterly ignored, then there's an issue. I'm pretty sure Transformers still features a range of different cool shit transforming into other cool shit, with colorful and diverse characters. Last edited by Jeritron; 02-02-2009 at 05:15 PM. |

And he was dangerous in a sneaky sort of way, to Megatron. To the autobots, he was dangerous in an ass kicking sort of way. Most badass scene in the frst movie was when starscream tore the shit out of those jets. It's great if the rumors are true about his personality being like the cartoon, but I hope he doesn't lose that badass factor from the first one, because he should be powerful, as well as an asshole. |

I mean his name alone is badass. Starscream is the most badass name ever. I even made a thread on this, and no one could come up with a name more badass than starscream. It stands to reason that he would have to be something of a badass, at least in combat.

Starscream is such a badass name, and although he had a small role in the first one I thought he was portrayed awesomely.
I also thought his escape, and surivival was so in character, and will be enhanced in this next one. Again, not everything has to be touched on in the first, or even second film. They're developing a franchise here, and I thought the simple focus of the first movie was the right move. It paid off. Now, they should ratchet it up another few notches for the second act. It looks like that's what they're doing. |

BDC, I think you're being a stickler for details and nostalgic things, which if you step back and look at logically and thematically, are perfectly acceptable and sometimes neccesary to update.
The basic things that should be there, are there. Now I don't doubt you're a bigger Transformers fan than I am, but I also don't think you're looking at this all as reasonably. |

I thought it was cool that the army characters from the first film were based off certain G.I Joe characters. They were pretty fun.

Oh, and Bumblebee was based off Michael J. Fox. The mannerisms and animation that is. Back to the Future was used as a reference.

Yea, was at a superbowl party last night and saw that shit. The trailer was smooth, but what made it so much SMOOTHER was two of these badass girls were at the party and were like OMG I WANT TO SEE THAT, I LOVED THE FIRST ONE...I'm sorry, but hot females who want to see a Transformer Movie = priceless.

Why don't they just re-release the Unicorn movie.
I can honestly deal with them updating the cars that everyone is. I hate the look of the robots. Now if they made Starscream the leader of a pack of jets such as Thundercracker and Skywarp, and maybe even the coneheads, and he was a classic heel where he would have them do all the fighting then come in and kick 'em while they're down, that would be awesome. |

Next you're going to ask for Dinobots and "You Got The Touch". Some things are better left in the 80's cartoon.
Here's a suggestion of mine though. They're defintiely going to get a trilogy out of this. I hope this next movie is the dark second act. I think heads should roll. Deaths. To be honest, I think it'd be awesome if they somehow killed off Optimus, or got us to think they did, for his triumphant return in the third movie. That's just how you need to structure a trilogy. Things need to be shaken up in this second movie, and things need to get dark before they are resolved. I hope they have the balls to go that way. |

I think they do kill of Optimus. And no I don't want the Dinobots, that would be to dumb. But it would be sweet if Judd Nelson was Hotrod.

Starscream was always a kick ass motherfucker. When Autobots saw that jet, the ran for gotdam cover. When Megatron Killed Brawn, who's hand did he jump into? Starscream. The only truly ledgible fight scenes in the movie was Starscream's decimation of the fighter squadron. His friction with Megatron endeared me to him. I have a problem with authority.

I don't what a complete nostaliga movie, it is just they could have done a lot better keeping orignal themes, while having a modern movie. Plus, lets not kid ourselves, the first one while being a good blow 'em up movie, was awful for basic story telling, plot, and just about everything but special effects, the act was only decent at best. I mean seriously, with as bad as it was, they should have had more nostagia just to trick people like me.

The first movie was fun regardless, but I think what made it so well liked was the stuff with Sam and his parents.

It could have been a lot better, that is all I'm saying. For example, instead of making Bumblebee Sam's protector, they could have made Sunstreaker his portector and he could have been a yellow sports car because that is what he is. Thus making it an easier pill for people like me to swallow.

Yea, but Bumblebee is more memorable from the cartoon. That's why he was picked. So, unfortunately, you're in the minority.
I get what you're saying, but it's unfair to expect. |

I covered a number of media in my last post. I spoke about the death of Brawn (TF animated movie), Starscream's sneak attack on the squadron(Michael Bay's film), and the friction between Megs, and Scream (every incarnation of TF except Bay's Movie). Forgive me for not clarifying.
