Tables Ladders & Podcast #75 (WWE) (10/29/14)
We're changing the format a bit, covering just specific talking points, instead of doing play-by-play coverage of the week. Let us know what you think.

Nowhere Man's back!
I like the new format. I enjoyed the old one, too, but I think the streamlined version will keep the show rolling and cut back on the tangents that derail the show sometimes. If you're only covering one company and only parts thereof, you have more time to cover the things you choose to cover. Well done, gents. |

We're still covering TNA. We're just doing separate episodes for WWE and TNA.

I don't watch TNA, so I find having to listen to TLP twice a week to get my TNA coverage to be... evil and genius at the same time. If I want to know what's going on in TNA, I need to hear TLP twice a week.
Now my question is how long of a podcast can TNA become with just one show? I wouldn't mind seeing Raw/NXT/Smackdown getting one podcast, while gossip/Question Of The Week/Main Event/TNA gets another. |

The show was a lot lighter and let you guys discuss the topics more without having to move along after one or two people make their points

Like the new format being used.
Old format was good considering the amount of stuff that happens per week although dropping Smackdown and Main Event to quick mentions did help a lot. Personally felt that TLP's sweet spot was those 1:30 to under 2 hour shows since they rarely felt like things was being rushed or dragging along. |

I expect the total weekly TLP time to sit somewhere around that mark, if you include the separate TNA episode.

The discussion about the WWE's average age is pretty interesting in how segmented it is. Almost like the Pokemon effect where its cool with kids, uncool with teens, and suddenly back to being cool with the older crowd. The older crowd just happens to stay longer with the WWE than kids which is why the average age is older.
The biggest thing the PG era brought was Mattell as a sponsor both good (a lot of money) and bad (hold a lot of power on what gets shown on tv). Cena's been great with generating a steady pool of kids as WWE's base since they spend a ton on live shows but horrible bridging the gap between the age groups which is why the Network, ppv buys, and tv ratings have been bad during the Cena/PG era. |

So that's how it is?
I get the call to be on the show when the biggest talking point is Bryan loosing muscle mass having not been in the ring for 6 months, waiting up until 1.30am to start the damn show, and keeping my fiancée up til 3am, earning myself a spot so deep in the doghouse CM Punk is laughing his ass off at me. Then a huge talking point comes along and you reschedule the show to accommodate Nowhere "I only do the big shows" Man, and I don't even get a look in!? #CancelTLPSubscription |
