I had an LCD TV that I'm throwing out because I'm seeing these weird waves toward the top of it that looks like it could've been an image ghost. I thought that happens rarely to LCDs. Getting another one. Should I go with plasma or LCD again? Also any brand name recommendations?

Plasma has its merits, but LCD all the way.

I hear Vizio is good, their large LCDs are still pretty cheap.

But if you want peace of mind (and you have the money), you can always go with Sony or Samsung.

Samsung are nice. A friend of mine has a 42" Phillips and it is really nice.

What I got now is an Insignia 32'' LCD. I shoulda mentioned earlier that I play games on with an HDMI cable (I don't know if that causes anything sort of image burning or anything) is there anything I can do to prevent/fix this image burn though?

how long do you leave your tv on? do you leave it sitting there at menu screens or on the same thing a lot?

Ive got a 1080p/120 hz 47 inch LCD from Phillips for $1k and its awesome.

I wouldnt worry about burn in on an LCD unless you leave the thing tuned to something with a 24/7 ticker (ESPN or what not) and never turn it off. Burn in isn't even as much of a problem on plasmas anymore.

I have a Samsung LCD and, although a decent piece of kit, it still suffers from image burn/ghosting. In fact I have a filthly dark line from top to bottom of screen where I'd been watching a channel that was in normal aspect ratio (where the "square" picture sits in the middle of the screen with two letterbow style black strips on either side) for "too long".

Also, I get a lot of other image burn that occurs if I sit on here "too long" (I use it as PC monitor too) or watch a sports news channel that has league tables, results tables, etc. This stuff seems to clear up pretty nicely though.

I have an old Sony Bravia and a Toshiba which is about 1 year old. Both don't suffer ghosting, but the Toshiba's contrast ratio is a bit shoddy. Still rocks though.

Man, I left my 360 on pause for a week accidentally on my 1080i Samsung 2 years ago and I still havn't had any ghosting at all.

Vistron use Samsung panel's in their LCD TV's, Of course you should make sure it's full HD (1080p). I have the series 5 Samsung and it's amazing. But I heard Panasonic do the best ones.

Yeah, Panasonic all the way. I'd prefer plasma, had a Pana 1080p 46" but it was to big for my room. Ended up with a Pana 1080p 37" LCD. I'm happy with it, but it will never compare to the plasma picture.
