UFC 73: Stacked
Nate Marquardt Vs. Anderson Silva for the Middleweight Title
Hermes Franca Vs. Sean Sherk for the Lightweight Title Rashad Evans (15-0) Vs. Tito Ortiz Alvin Robinson Vs. Kenny Florian Heath Herring Vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and potentially Mike Nickels Vs. Stephan Bonnar What a card! I think this will be one the great UFC PPV's in the last few years. I also really hope Bonnar gets on the card and knocks that guy out. I am predicting Silva to keep his title The Lightweight title is a tough call but I will go with Sherk I am picking Ortiz over Evans, although it would be great for Evans to win. What are your predictions? |

I am not going to try and pick a winner in Evans and Ortiz, but if I did, I would lean towards Ortiz. Evans hasnt been on his back before, and I dont think he is going to take Ortiz down.
I want Marquardt to beat Silva, and I pick Sherk to hang onto his belt. I also am looking forward to Bonnar's return, I hope he does well. |

Yea looks like a solid ppv. I hope Tito pulls it off, but I dunno ,the fight has upset written all over it. I'm gonna pick Marquardt to win the belt and Sherk to retain.

Would love to see Rashad beat Tito. Anything can happen but i can only see Tito pounding him to bits. As long as its a bit of a war i'll be happy enough.
With Nogueira now in the UFC i wonder who's next in line for a shot at the winner of Couture/Gonzaga? Is it fair for Cro Cop to step straight back in line if he beats Kongo in September? I suppose the decision hangs on Cro Cop having 2 fights left on his UFC contract. |

whatev... actually I do hope tito wins because if he loses hes most likely done. Looking at evans, he has all the tools to win this fight. Tito is a good striker but he uses a lot of dirty boxing to set up shots so that he can take his opponent down and ground and pound. Hes got enough wrestling experience to make him dangerous. Evans however is a far more accomplished and probably better wrestler than tito is. And i heard he has been boxing all his life too. Those two things are a bad match up for tito. Granted Evans has to really beat the fuck out of tito to get the win because the biggest advantage tito has in this fight is that his name is tito ortiz. if its a great fight that comes down to a decision, tito will win gauranteed. I just think that with the tools evans is working with and the personal life or tito, that evans will come out the victor.

I used to love Arlovski but the timid, frail way he fought Tim "The Giant Turd" Silvia made me change my mind.. If he can come back to form like he was 5 years ago, great, but him beating Marcio Cruz means nothing.. Let him beat someone of worth, again, then I'd see your point.. I'm gonna go watch this at my brothers place tommorow because I'm hanging with the missus tonight.. |

Whats the name of the song Noguiera came out to? And Herring is a dummy for not finishing Noguiera off in the 1st round.

That Ref screwed Heath Herring. It def should have been stopped. Terrible
And this hurts me to say such I'm such a Tito mark, and I know Rob isn't gonna like it, but Tito is done as a top level fighter. |

I disagree on the ref screwing Herring..he coulda easily jumped back on Antonio and finished him off, but his dumbass got up and wanted to stand up for some stupid reason. He had plenty of time even early in the 2nd..glad he lost.
And Tito looked good up until the 3rd round where he gassed surprisingly. He shoulda won, but I dunno we'll see on the rematch I guess. And Sherk is a freak |

no i'm sorry. Heath Herring screwed Heath Herring. What a moron. Letting the guy up LOL. That guy couldnt even get up right and he let him up. That was one of the dumbest things i've ever seen in a MMA fight. The dude didnt even know where he was. I understand you might be worried about slipping into a submission, but Herring showed great ground defense and ability to slip out of holds. Plus it was nearing the end of the round. He stopped punching. The ref cant stop the fight if the dumb ass stops punching and lets him up. Noguiera was still trying to defend himself thats why it wasnt stopped. Herring should have kept punching like his life depended on it. I'm glad he lost that fight. He deserved to lose for that dumb shit. I dunno how Sean Sherk survived those 3 knees from Franca. The first one was gross. The one to open the second round ( or end the first round? ) would knock most fighters out no matter who they were. Sherk should have been done right there. He probably should have been done on the other two. I couldnt believe he walked into the other two like he did the first one. You'd think he'd see it coming after getting absolutley crushed by one already. |

And Sherks ground work is flat out scary. He knew what Franca was gunna do before Franca even knew what he'd do. Popping out of half guard to full guard then basically mounting whenever he wanted. Taking his back whenever he wanted and if Franca managed to roll out, Sherk jumped right back into half guard and then guard effortlessly. Just rediculous. Franca is a black belt in Jujitsu and Sherk pretty much made a mockery out of that.

I argee that Heath should have stayed on top of him, but Minotauro was clearly knocked out and was hardly able to defend himself.
Also I don't think Rich Franklin stands a chance against Anderson Silva. Anderson Silva is pretty awsome. And Sean Sherk is gonna have that title for a long time. |

Franca was a def. more talented than Sherk, but sherk's training regement is rediculous. Come the third round he wass fighting like it was the first while franca could barely move. it got to the point where when franca was getting taken down that he couldnt react fast enough to even slow down sherk. The only thing that scares me about sherk is that every single round, he had a guillotine applied to him. The first two rounds had him stuck in tight and I thought he was done... If he does against some one who is in as good as shape as him (will never happen btw) he could be in trouble if he gets put into it in the later rounds. And he needs to set up his damn shots better.

The reason Tito "won" the 2nd round, (well he woulda won it 10-9 if not for the fence pull) was because of the fence pull, Rashad would have had a more dominant takedown if he didn't hold the fence all the fucking time and won the round, but instead Tito got good position and got the guillotine. It was a pretty fuckin even fight though, props to Evans for holding his own against a MUCH BIGGER Tito Ortiz.
Anderson Silva is awesome. His jiu jitzu is surprisingly really good, and how about that slick reversal he pulled on Marquardt to set up the gnp. And then you could tell it was over after the one punch where Nate's head smacked off the mat. |
