Is Roh any better than TNA?

Apparently nobody at TNA was even aware of Destination America being in talks with ROH assuming its not another case of TNA management hiding info from staff and wrestler again.
Probably the biggest sign Destination America got ROH solely to replace TNA in a few months came from their press release which made no mentions of TNA at all. Quote:

Now that I'm not sitting in a waiting room:
There's definitely something fishy about this and/or the news over the past week or so about TNA. Wasn't one of the primary "reasons" for Destination America--at least as far as the DIRT SHEETZ go--canceling TNA due to advertisers not wanting anything to do with a wrestling product? Even if that isn't the case, it seems very strange to double down on wrestling when they obviously haven't been a big fan of the way TNA has performed lately. I get that RoH is a "different" product, but would TV executives really pick up on that? |

Also been speculated the ROH likely is way cheaper for DA since Sinclair probably is handling all the real costs so even with low ad money and/or ratings, it won't be as big of a drain that TNA is. |

This sitch does kinda have the smell of "We'll replace ECW with WWE" about it. If they go balls out promoting ROH, we'll see how accurate that comparison is.

I really enjoyed the first night War of the Worlds up in philly. Probably the best 3 hours of wrestling Ive seen live. Not sure how much of the credit goes to ROH for that though.
Also, I fucking demand a Briscoes reality show show on their farm since I live like 15 minutes away. They have to do it..it's the most fucking obvious thing ever. |

I like that ROH is staying the same and not changing anything. This might get TNA to step up their game considering they will be following a solid hour of wrestling. TNA management is so bad though, I don't see anything good coming.
I can just imagine how mad Dixie is after the ROH announcement, can TNA opt out of thier deal, because i can see Dixie doing somthing like that. |

I wouldn't even call TNA comically bad from an on-screen standpoint. The management might be inept but when I watch it, they have good stories and interesting shit going on from start to finish. No filler. They just lack consistency and they don't have the stars to build an audience. Wrestling just isn't hot enough anymore for people to care about anything other than WWE. But if you switched WWE's writing and TNA's writing, WWE would be WAY fucking better and TNA would have been out of business years ago.

They have the same problem as WWE when it comes to the inability to consistently push guys to become stars. WWE can survive that issue for the time being though because they already have big stars. TNA doesn't have that luxury.

TNA has done an exceptional job with EC3. They had a chance with Magnus but kinda screwed up with him. They have a good young crop of talent that if pushed and presented the right way could be stars. Hope they stay on DA and maybe even work out a deal with ROH to do a few supershows with one another on DA.

Supposedly TNA could have blocked Destination America from getting ROH or any wrestling shows while TNA was around had the company Dixie hired to get a new tv deal included the clause.
UTA (company hired by Dixie) didn't think it was necessary for TNA to have a special clause while saw no problem with Destination America having an opt out clause since its very common in tv deals. UTA and TNA probably didn't think Destination America would actually use it since the deal was very short. |

Also, ruining the good thing they built with Samoa Joe in the early days of the company by not continuing to book him as a force and giving him the WWE "monster, jobber, monster, jobber, monster, jobber" treatment didn't help. |

Yeah its a shame Joe didn't have more runs with the heavyweight title. Its going to be funny if Joe gets to do ROH tapings on DA.

If we are to believe Heyman to be true and that ECW never would have folded if they were able to negotiate with other networks, than you can pretty much kiss TNA goodbye. Here's the problem. No major network is going to negotiate with a company that got put on the chopping block by their previous suitor. If the network feels they will loose revenue or heck even break even on the investment, they won't commit. If Destination America is indeed cancelling TNA due to what their "leaked" statement says, TNA is history. Their only shot at getting back on TV is on a low budget network/local station. Not like I really care about TNA anyway. |

I thought the whole rumours with them cancelling TNA was something about their advertisers not wanting anything to do with wrestling? So why would they add more wrestling?

TNA managed to end up on a general Do Not Advertise list that ad sponsors like to use. Supposedly TNA either doesn't have sponsors on their own like the WWE or whatever they were paying wasn't enough to offset what DA was losing.
Going to assume ROH is bringing whatever sponsors are associated with Sinclair for their spot on the network to cover any possible ad losses. Quote:

Brilliant move by DA really. It's a low risk, high reward for them. If they can keep TNA's audience and get them to watch ROH instead, then great. If not, they cut ties without having to worry about losing whatever they invested in TNA. Win win for them and a great venue for future exposure for ROH.
Time to pack it in TNA. Bring back Angle. |

This is really interesting. This move definitely helps ROH, but it could also potentially help TNA. A lot of TNA talent would do really well in a ROH crossover scenario; but I'm not sure the same can be said for a lot of TNA talent.

DA is playing with house money here....
I remember when I was younger that I would watch two hours of wrestling on Saturdays. WCW went on first and then WWE. They could be trying to,do the same thing, but better... Even HHH said three hours of RAW is over kill. One hour of ROH followed by two hours of TNA looks a little more palatable. |

It is sad that a lot of people working for TNA will lose their jobs. Is weekly television exposure necessary for wrestlers in this day and age?

ROH's production quality isn't as good as TNA. The casual fan might consider it as a step down for the wrestlers.
Remember how things went when that Canadian dude got drafted to ECW? He didn't even show up to the title match. I mean, what was he thinking? |

If TNA folds, between ROH, GFW and, yes, even NXT, there are plenty of places for them stateside to find work and expand their skills. Probably even make more money. And that's not even counting Japan, Lucha Underground (filmed in the USA, yes), Mexico, England and other places.
