Ricardo was the best thing about ADR
Seriously, Ricardo was the best thing about Del Rio. The second best thing was the car entrance. The third best was JBL putting him over like Christ. After that Del Rio never did anything worth watching. Well I guess he did Paige but not on TV.

Del Rio is pretty great across the board. It's not his fault his character has been shit throughout most of his time in WWE. Most guys suffer from the same issue.

Agree he was a lot more entertaining in WWE with Ricardo. It gave him something that was unique for his entrance and made him stand out. I'm a fan of the guy and liked him as Alberto El Patron during his absence. I think more guy could benefit from having a manage or a valet. Swagger definitely was better with Zeb. Rusev was nothing without Lana. Axle hasn't done anything since leaving Heyman. Really think WWE should look into developing more managers and valets in NXT. Corey Graves is great on commentary but I bet he'd make a great heel manager as well.

Agree since Ricardo was really good with his role and helped Del Rio stand out a bit more with his Mexican Million Dollar Man type gimmick.

Worst thing for Del Rio was them getting split up after the WWE already gutted most of the stuff about Del Rio's gimmick.

Del Rio is a great wrestling babyface, but he's a heel character. It's a weird situation to be in.

He should have gone over Edge at WrestleMania XXVIII. He was done when he failed to win the World Title there.

Agreed.

I was never a huge ADR fan. He just seemed like a guy that the WWE machine was 'forcing' to be relevant. He was a talented guy no doubt, but I knew that he'd never really amount to anything other than IC level (I don't put too much stock in his multiple world title reigns as I feel that him being champion was a cheap and ill-fated attempt to make him look 'bigger' than he was).

My opinion of ADR is similar to Sheamus.

I think at some point within the WWE, they realized that "the glass ceiling" problem within the company was too large and that it was starting to hurt wrestler morale (circa 2002-2005?).

Guys like Sheamus and ADR likely would have been better served by having lengthy Intercontinental title reigns. If the WWE had pushed these guys correctly, then perhaps these guys would be mentioned in the same sentence as Honky Tonk Man, Randy Savage, etc., in terms of being one of the greatest IC champs of all-time.

Now? They are just seen as guys that were 'undeserving' world champs, that ultimately became washed up jaded mid-carders with no direction.

It wasn't so much that Ricardo was the best part about him. He has a great look, is very skilled and he is believable.

It's the fact that an effort was made the first time. He was built up, given the entrance, given the fanfare, and although he got a bit stale near the end, I thought he was great, and a believable champ for most os his first run. His entrance was cool and rounded out his character and made him stand out.

This time around he came back, beat Cena...but the problems were already there. A bizarre angle with Zeb, and then pushed into the death of a stable that was Unameric...I mean League of Nations.

It was all bad, and within 6 months, he was just another random midcarder on the roster.

Samoa Joe should have been the guy to take the US Title off John Cena at Hell in a Cell. Del Rio should have returned in a big celebration with Vince McMahon, then gone into a shoot about how he was fired for slapping a racist employee of his. "I'm taking your money and I'm beating up your suits."
