I also like the part where he says he's never been injured and missed time. No he just misses time to film stupid movies that no one cares about

And what is the point you're trying make exactly? The best part of that promo on Bryan is that it's true.

I also totally forgot the Miz was Bryans mentor on NXT.

Which sort of makes me think that he will eventually wrestle again for the WWE and that his GM role is a way to keep him relevant while letting him heal up 100% to WWEs liking. |

I have thought that The Miz has been one of the best heels in the company for several years now. Amazing talker, and I love the passion of this promo. His stuff with Sandow was fantastic heeling, and I do love the reverse motivations of this, where the heel has the legit grievances. Great job here--the difference between the overthought scripting and letting good talkers go is gaping.

Could the retirement be a work? Probably not but he was awful optimistic about being able to wrestle again before he retired. Don't think he could just go wrestle at "bingo halls" as WWE would probably do the same they did with Rey and adding more time to the deal or just making him wait til his contract expires.

Yup. Word was he wanted to at one point but they were gonna invoke whatever clause that was to keep him from performing. Something about how they can add time to the deal if the wrestler misses time due to injury so they could hold onto him long term.
No, the retirement isn't a work. It's as much a work as Edge's was. |

I highly doubt they would have kept Bryan on the shelf during the last Mania if it was a work. WWE was begging for talanet to not be injured for it.

You clearly missed the part where is talking about white power and how the WWE is kissing up to the minorities.

I still hate the Miz in the ring, I'm not going to waste my time watching his matches. What an awesome promo like this does though is make sure that if I skip past the finish, I'll rewind and see who won rather than just carry on with the event.

The guy is not a bad worker by any means, but his matches are easily forgettable. He's the type of guy who would benefit from learning how to throw a great punch and really key in on story telling. He's never going to be able to go move for move with some of the freaks on the roster. Lol some of the freaks on the roster would benefit from throwing a decent punch and telling a story too, but if Miz just simplifies and really starts connecting IN RING with the crowd as opposed to JUST being a very good promo, he'd really be a can't miss.

On topic, the promo at the start of the thread was like a classic Flair promo.
Would really like to see this "justifiably indignant" Miz on TV. Would be a decent evolution of the character. I agree that it *does* seem like they (possibly intentionally) are teasing a DB ring return, and that is potentially dangerous water to tread, but I like the fact that Miz is something else besides chicken-shit heel or not-as-good-as-he-thinks-he-is heel. But then again, I was also in the minority of people who liked Miz/Maryse better when they pretended to despise one another on camera. |

Kind of hope this leads to Bryan calling up Hideo Itami to be Miz's Backlash opponent.

I'm not even convinced he'll hit kicks or a Yes Lock or anything in a non-wrestling capacity. If they are worried about potential liability should he get hurt something physical...that probably rules out everything. It's likely all or nothing.

They'd likely make him sign a release form that absolves them of any blame should he actually get back in the ring. No way they're just gonna let him waltz back in there without covering b their ass.

So one thing I've learned from video game stories is to not trust the word of Forbes Contributors. They're basically just bloggers. I could have written it.

Even if the WWE were considering letting him wrestle one more match or do some moves, wouldn't happen until well after the current concussion lawsuits are over and concussions themselves are no longer a hot topic in the public.

I honestly don't even want to see Daniel Bryan return to the ring at this point. I know he really wants to, so I feel like a dick saying this, but selfishly as a fan I have accepted that his career is over. After he returned in 2015, I would sort of cringe when he'd do stuff like his corner dropkick, and I realized that I was kind of a mark for his health. It's going to be hard to present Bryan in a way that makes people forget that his brain has taken a pummeling over the years.

I'd rather not see Bryan because he had his moment. Nothing is ever gonna touch WM30 for him. Just leave it be.
