I'm ready to lay some big $$$ on the Saints this year. Think they are going to run away with the NFC

I just want the San Francisco 49ers or the Cleveland Browns to win the Superbowl. I don't think that's too much to ask. Fuck em, this is the war.

I think Geno was announced as the starter a while ago? Wasn't Sanchez injured. Anyway, they're both gonna be awful.
That all being said, I think people give Rex Ryan WAY too much shit. I mean... if you think about it, for as GOD-FUCKING ATROCIOUS as Sanchez has been, Ryan turned this team into a perennial contender for a few years there, with like top-10 defenses and into AFC Championships etc. He hasn't done anything egregiously terrible coaching-wise, like say Andy Reid or Norv Turner. Yet people give Ryan a ton of shit saying he's a bad coach and stuff. I dunno. I think he's arguably been one of the 5 best coaches in the league over the past 5 years. crossrine |

I love Rex Ryan. People just "parrot" what they hear others saying.

Think there was some concern about his preseason stats and/or injury before the Sanchez injury that caused some doubt. Once Sanchez got hurt and Quinn was signed mainly as a mentor-type backup, it was only a matter of time before Smith would be confirmed as the starter.

I also loved Rex Ryan from 09-11 but thought he kept chatting some pure manure last year which made me lose a bit of confidence in him. People were out of their minds saying he should have been fired though. Last year was his first losing season out of four, cut him some slack.

Part of what I love about Ryan is that he does talk so much nonsense. He totally deflects attention away from the team, which I think is intentional. He makes himself the scapegoat so the players don't have to constantly hear about how shitty they played etc etc

The Red Sox start NFL Kickoff week a little bit early by putting up 20 runs against the Detroit Tigers.

My office survivor pool allows multiple entries, $20 an entry. Decided to do 2 this year, only had one last year and figured the Saints would surely beat the Chiefs at home to avoid an 0-4 start and, well, we know how that worked out.
Definitely taking the Colts with one of my entries. Dunno about the other one though. Leaning towards New England. Would hate to use the Pats this early especially with the Jets rolling into town next week. But really the goal is to survive as long as possible. Could also take the Texans as I think the Chargers will blow, but the Pats seem like the "safer" pick. Either way I'm not a fan of taking road teams but there aren't any slam dunk home choices. Thought about the Steelers but them and the Titans seem equally mediocre. Not ready to pick the Chiefs on the road, even against Jacksonville, cause I dunno what to make of the Chiefs at this point. |

Super quick predictions for the season:
NFC 1. Falcons 2. Seahawks 3. Packers 4. Cowboys 5. Saints 6. 49ers Falcons and Saints are both absolutely loaded on offense and will score a million points. Defense breaks the tie and I do think the Falcons are better in that regard. Could see both being in the top 3 teams in the conference record wise, though. With all due respect to the 49ers, the Seahawks are hard to bet against since they'll probably win at least 7 home games. NFC East will beat the shit out of each other to the point where the division winner will have the worst playoff team record in the conference again. Hope I'm wrong with Dallas obviously, but they and the Giants both have good offenses so again I have to break the tie with defense. NFC North can be wide open but there's also potential for things to go very wrong. In the end I'll stick with Green Bay as the safest pick although their o-line is horrendous. AFC 1. Broncos 2. Patriots 3. Texans 4. Bengals 5. Ravens 6. Steelers Would be shocked if the top three teams didn't win their respective divisions, basically looked at their schedules and used that to determine the 1-3 seeding. AFC North should be fun. I'll go with the Bengals taking the step up and the Ravens being playoff bound again. A lot of people are pegging the Chiefs for a spot over the Steelers, but I dunno. The Chiefs schedule does seem really easy but there are too many unknowns for my liking. I'll go with the Steelers to find a way to put it together and avoid a rare 2nd straight year without the playoffs. Wild Card -Saints over Cowboys -Packers over 49ers -Steelers over Texans -Bengals over Ravens Division -Saints over Falcons -Seahawks over Packers -Broncos over Steelers -Bengals over Patriots Conference -Seahawks over Saints -Broncos over Bengals Super Bowl 48 -Broncos over Seahawks Dunno. The playoffs are pretty much a crapshoot anyway. MVP: Peyton Manning Coach of the Year: Marvin Lewis Offensive ROY: Eddie Lacy Defensive ROY: Jarvis Jones |

Yeah, just a hunch. Plus I kinda wanted to set it up in a way where Seattle hosts the NFC Title game. So hard to beat at home.
I don't have any particular dislike of the Saints, but I will say I'm a bit more partial to the Falcons if only for Osi. He was an asshole at times but I'll miss him in Giants blue. also love Gonzalez. |

Just finished the regular season in my Madden game. If that's anything to go by (its not) the playoffs will be:
NFC 1. Giants 2. 49ers 3. Falcons 4. Vikings 5. Seahawks 6. Eagles AFC 1. Ravens 2. Patriots 3. Colts 4. Chiefs 5. Broncos 6. Bengals Also apparently Vontaze Burfict will win the Defensive ROY despite not being a rookie. Poor Raiders can't even lose properly. Started off 1-1 and then lost 13 straight. 1-14 going into week 17. They won, and the Rams outsucked them going 2-14 and ending on a 7 game losing streak. Raiders screwed themselves out of a chance to draft Willie Duckett out of Auburn, being touted as the next (and evidently white) Cam Newton. |

Don't worry, the IRL Raiders will suck and take Clowney next year and the universe will be in balance.

Bengals better stay away from the play offs this year. Fed up of them wasting a spot every year.
