I just hope it doesn't involve Dinos in space.

I think the sequels made the mistake of being more action/adventure oriented, and abandoning the science fiction.
I'm not saying to set it in space, or give them lasers or anything. I mean they should return to the focus of man creating dinosaurs, and what consquences it has. 15 years later, I think there is a chance to re-visit that. It would be especially interesting if the rival company was making the same mistakes, and all new ones, and the experienced people from the first movie made use of the lessons they learned from their mistakes. |

Well, they also came out much sooner after the original, so people had an appetite for more dinosaurs.
They couldn't really get away with not showing more dinos and dino action. So I understand how their hands were tied there in trying to please the audience. Now, this many years removed from the franchise, they could probably go back to slowly building towards the dinosaurs and making them have a bigger impact again. It would be a total nostalgia trip too, really. It's been long enough that the JP T-Rex returning to the screen could be pretty epic if hyped right. Same with the Raptors. |

The T-Rex was barely used in III, and it's my favorite part so I'd be excited to see it. Raptors are badass, but they freak my the fuck out much more than the T-Rex. They're like the athletes of dinosaurs.

I didn't care for the Raptors in part 3. I just didn't like the way they were used and the way they looked. I won't get into the issue of them evolving insane amounts over the course of 4 years, and the goofiness of Grant dreaming about them talking to him even though he's never seen anything of the sort. That's another story.
They just kind of jumped the shark. They should bring them back to the way they were in 1 and 2. |

I'm probably one the few peeps out here that preferred 3 over Lost World I liked the fact that it was darker but having Goldbloom's character as one of the leads didn't work for me.

Having Goldblum's character as the lead would have been awesome if he was more like Ian Malcolm from the first film.
They're both heavily just Goldblum, like all his roles, but there's a definite change in the character and that's not just because of development. They sort of watered him down to be a lead. |

The Raptor mystique was toyed with in III. They were intense in the original and The Lost World. I really like Goldblum, though.

Yeah, the Malcom from the original would have been better. "Chaos."

I guess in reality, raptors are only like 3 feet tall, at most, and the dinosaur they were actually based on in the movie was Dinonichious.(probably butchered the spelling there.) But Velociraptors sounds cooler, so they switched the names.

Kalyx beat me to the punch. I also thought regular Velociraptors were about 6 feet. It's been a while since I've actually brushed up on my Dino knowledge though

What's up with all these new depictions of Raptors with feathers? Fuck that noise. That doesn't sound very scary...more like a 6 foot turkey.

You'll find them scary when a raptor gives you a death stare. Also JP3 took many liberties with the raptor design to make them look scarier ('evil' eyes, longer teeth). It worked for me, though the narrative about them being smart as monkeys was a bit forced.

True, but they didn't really look any scarier to me. They just seemed faker. They were almost too polished and exotic looking, to the point where it's like the type of thing you'd see on a cheap ride or museum exhibit.

I know I was referring to the searching I was doing online just now, not JP3. In either case, I don't like it. I'm attached to the JP1 Raptors, regardless of their scientific accuracy.

lol. Still, I can honestly say I'd rather stick my hand in a goldfish bowl than a piranha tank.
As thrilled as I am for the continuation of one of my favorite movie series, I have two concerns: One, as already discussed, how closely will the movie follow the latest scientific evidence concerning dinosaurs. I actually hope they only sample some tidbits and choose to use entertainment over accuracy. Second, I'm hoping to see more experienced hunters. There was one in JP and JPLW, but they were both taken out fairly quickly. It'd be nice to see just one last the majority of the film. |
