A New Godzilla Finally and He's Going to be Legendary
http://www.slashfilm.com/2010/03/29/...godzilla-film/
First off let me state that I'm aware their are threads already concerning Godzilla, but they were old and this is hot fresh news (at least for me). After what has felt like years of waiting for a new film after GFW (3D to the Max still buzzes in my head from time to time) official news for a new movie in production has been made and it's being fronted by Legendary Pictures. Now I know their will be some criticism towards this bit of news. Myself included, the knowledge of another American company taking a crack at such a iconic legend is a reason for doubt, but when keeping in mind this particulars company's track record: 300 Batman Begins Inception as well as others I for one am actually filled with a sense of excitement I have not felt since my first time seeing a G-film on the big screen (it was G2K, it was opening day, it was pure awesome). I think this is big news for fans of the series so share your thoughts on this or past films: What should be in it? Where should it take place? Should it be in 3D? The floor is open. ...Sorry about that, just saw a blurb from Comic Con on G4 and it caught me off guard. The new design particularly got my eye as it is evident that Toho is having more of an effect on how the movie is going to be played out.
Also, really digging that icon, as it fits my mood at the moment. |

The trend will be to have more and more films released in 2D and 3D simultaneously. I just hope this, if 3D, won't go the random monster roaring at you scene every 2-3 minutes.

By being 'American' will this film at least have cool, modern effects? Instead of the Japanese kinda rubber costume thing. Not really into that. I did like the '98 Godzilla movie though, so to be honest I movie like that would be cool.

I'm hoping for a fusion of the two; a style that doesn't completely forgo the traditional method of making kaiju films but modernizes it instead. I can see how younger generations may not enjoy the classic portrayal, I for one still find enjoyment in watching monster movies that utilize that "rubber costume thing". Not to say their has not been cheesy attempts at this (like some of the earlier Ultraman movies which used a rehashed old Godzilla suit for one of the enemy monsters) but when it's done well it does look good.

If it's made by Legendary, Godzilla will be CGI and have an 8-pack.

Since this is an American film, I think Godzilla yelling "This 'isn't' Tokyo!" would be more appropo.
Also, here's the image that I was talking about, in case any of you haven't seen it yet: |
