"Wrestling is made for one time viewing"
I was looking over an old Wrestling Observer recapping Wrestlemania 6 and found this interesting quote from Dave in reference to his high praise of the Warrior vs Hogan match.
How many of you re-watch matches, and if so does it lower your thoughts/ratings of said matches? |

First time viewing has the aspect of shock and awe but if it was a good match I can watch it again and enjoy it, especially if I'm showing it to someone who hasn't seen it. WWE Network wouldn't be what it is if wrestling was made for one time viewing.

When I was a kid, I rewatched various rassling VHS tapes all the time......
As I have grown, I rarely ever go back and watch something again. I mean very very very rare. I've got the WWE Network and feel 0 desire to go watch old stuff. |

Not knowing the finish is super helpful, but there are definitely great matches that I will watch multiple times just for being so good.

Same here. I used to rent the same tapes from the video store over and over. 10 year old me would have been in heaven with the WWE network. 32 year old me is all

I actually get a kick out of going back and watching stuff I used to think was really amazing as a kid before I was "wise" to the business and before my tastes evolved.
Or for that matter even stuff I thought was bad from like 10-12 years ago. Do I still think it's bad or was I being hyper critical? |

I used to watch matches over and over again as a kid as well, and will still do so on occasion, but much less frequently, mostly due to time restraints and life and stuff...

Same as many have said already. When I was a kid, I'd go back and constantly re-watch entire events. Now I'll sometimes revisit old stuff on Youtube or something but only short videos.
The thing about watching matches for me is I'm all about the story. Once a match has happened and I know the outcome, even if it's a technical classic, the ride isn't the same re-watching it. I think that quote is pretty accurate. |

For me it isnt the same. I can go back and watch matches dozens of times but im watching the little details. It's tape study though so it doesnt count.

You realize most people feel the same way about WWE. Do you think they should be really bothered by the fact that you watch it?

Tend to rewatch matches the most whenever I'm already looking up wrestling related stuff online. Rarely whole shows since majority of the time I'm just in the mood to see a match or two.
Destor's Better Wrestler threads usually put me in the mood to rewatch past matches from certain wrestlers like Steamboat vs Macho Man as part of remembering stuff from Steamboat's career. |

I can rewatch the modern stuff over again. Like Rasslemania 18, of course. But any of that old 70s stuff is boring garbage and I'd rather watching curling tbh. Also, this whole thread is very Meltzer sheep,,,,,,

But you and STD should definitely team up to rid the world of these inferior retards who enjoy lesser pro wrestling companies so that only the intellectually superior fans of the genius, cutting edge entertainment of WWE remain. Mainly because the thought of you two posting all smug and complimenting each others' posts makes me laugh. |

STD got offended when I said Nakamura coming out and doing nothing was dumb and I guess Damninator just wants to tag along. Both are way bigger fans of Bayley than any grown man should ever be so I can understand their reactions to something like this. |

I enjoy good wrestling, but i rarely, if ever, watch anything again. The only exception to that would be a podcast or two that review old events for comedy. Or very old events where i don't remember the outcome, out of nostalgia
It's all about the story, the rivalry and the build for me. Once that is over, it loses its gloss for me, because i know where it went and what happened. Probably why i can often end up dissatisfied with today's product, because the story is often told the same way and unpredictability and originality seem to be a lost art. |

JBL should bully Bayley into getting plastic surgery.

There's a bunch of stuff I've watched over again. Pretty sure most wrestling fans will have watched WMX7 more than once.
Taker/HBK, Cena/Punk, Rock/Hogan, Royal Rumble '92, Benoit/Angle, HBK/Flair, Savage/Steamboat, Savage/Flair, etc. There's loads of stuff that's worth multiple watches. I'd personally throw in Malenko/Scotty 2 Hotty, I've watched that 3-4 times. |

I mean, I could understand if you had a young daughter or something but let's be real. Just saying it's ok to be a fan of hers but you take it a little far to be a grown man so I can understand your reaction to something like a wrestling fan watching a wrestling show that you don't like. Feel like I'm being to nice here but also like I'm talking to a child so I don't know.
